Hi Everyone,
There are those days you really feel like staying somewhere tranquil. Having a true break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Yet at the same time it’s nice to know you can sustain your shopping needs/desires too!
That’s exactly where this little gem of a hotel – Romantik Hotel Schloss Rettershof – becomes the perfect place to visit. Located in the Taunus hills between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden.
We just spent two nights there this weekend. Now back home going through the brochures of the region… I am wishing we stayed longer!

Tranquility and City Getaway in One – Romantik Hotel Schloss Rettershof
After an approximately 4 hour drive from Zurich (depending on traffic), we arrived at the romantic tree lined driveway to this adorable family-run Castle hotel.
Our Room
There are rooms both in the main castle building and off to the side. Ours was off to the side which was perfect as there was a wedding on that weekend and this way they could party and we heard nothing.
I’m always a fan of the little details, especially good magazines to read! They put a little air fan unit in our room due to the current heat wave.
Dinner
The food was fabulous as you will see further down but what really made our meal so extra special both evenings was the amazing service. We had the most helpful waiter who seemed to be able to read our minds and with a fabulous sense of humour.
Set outside on the beautiful terrace. Don’t you love the cute frog I had as my neighbour (no not my hubby – the green thing to the right – smile!).
Aperative was a super interesting POMP rose cuvé made out of grapes from the region with a slight apple note to it. A definite must try if you ever visit this hotel.
The wine selection was great. We chose a lovely red local wine made with a special old variety of grapes – also recommend you try this especially with red meat!
We both ordered the same dish – a delicious salmon dish served with salad mouse. Followed by the most tender beef ever as a main and then a delicious creme caramel for desert! I’m getting hungry just looking at these photos.
The Next Day – Breakfast
Breakfast is made up of a cute buffet placed in the centre of the main building but we could choose from many different places to sit.
Choice of what to have was nice plus we could order eggs on the side if we wanted.
Exploring the grounds
When you’re in a location with such pretty grounds what can possibly be better than walking off breakfast!
The main house dates back to 1885 and has had many lives ranging from being a ballet school right through to housing Hare Krishnas.
The castle has been in it’s current state and family-run for 7 years now but there are some fun plans in the pipeline including an additional restaurant on the premises plus a new restaurant opening in Frankfurt. This will be the Café Paris of the Fressgass!
Horse stables off to the side of the property.
A little City Adventure
Being only 20 minutes away from both Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, we decided to spend an afternoon in Frankfurt.
Frankfurt holds nostalgic memories for me as before moving to Zurich from London I was offered a job in both Frankfurt or Zurich. I could have chosen Frankfurt and sometimes wonder what my life would look like now had I done so… In any case I am quite happy with the decision I made at the time – smile!
Parking – always a question in a new city. Unlike others it was super easy to get parking in the middle of a Saturday at the Börse Parkhaus.
Teatime at the cutest cafe with the best pastries in town I am sure: L’Art Sucre
It’s also worth finding the old town of Frankfurt as this is undergoing renovation to bring the beautiful old architecture back to life.
Back at the Hotel ready for Dinner
I’m guessing that in the cooler months this also turns into a restaurant.
The indoor restaurant – not that we ate here in this beautiful Summer weather!
Again we ordered the same meal – must be the result of 20 years of marriage – haha!
We started with Fois Gras – which we shared and instead of having a glass of sauterne our adorable Waiter introduced us to a sweet red wine.
Followed by an old favourite dish of ours – Wiener schnitzel.
Time to Leave:
Last minute check that I have everything in my bag!

This post was written in collaboration with Romantic hotels. When I worked in Finance we would regularly go for weekends away to one of the Romantik hotel’s so it was lovely to be able to do so as an Influencer. All opinions are my own.

It looks all so nice and beautiful I love the Schloss and the town Frankfurt has really grown with phantastic looking high rising Buildings and even the old part of the City looks real very nice and so clean and new love it
This looks like a great getaway and really worth a visit. Love your gingham dress. Sp chic. When it doesn’t fit anymore with all the nice food you had, send the dress to me.
You are too funny Nicole – love the suggestion but of course more food simply means more exercise 😉
Have a wonderful weekend dear xoxo
Looks so lovely and glamorous ❤️❤️❤️
WOW Yvonne, those are some gorgeous places. What a beautiful fancy, romantic hotel! Love your outfit too. There is a very similar red gingham off-shoulder dress sitting at an online shopping cart, for me. LOL
