Stripes Taking a Turn for Summer 2019

Hi Everyone,

Since the age of 10 I’ve been wanting a handkerchief dress and now I finally have one thanks to a lovely Australian label Violet Fish.

Have you ever wanted to have something or a particular style for years and then finally managed to get it?

This post is however not about the handkerchief hem of this dress. It’s about the new turn stripes are taking for Summer 2019. For the past few seasons blue and white stripes have been one of those essential wardrobe items. This year stripes continue to feature large on the trend scene and in the high street shops. The move is however to a more daring stripe. One that plays with colours. A stripe that dares to combine different stripe thicknesses in one item. A stripe that combines all sorts of colours one might not normally wear together.

The great thing about this type of stripe is that you can play with it even more than ever. Combine it with different accessories and dress up or down with just the simplest tweak!

Keep scrolling for a pictorial example of stripes taking a turn for Summer 2019.

Stripes Taking a Turn for Summer 2019

Isn’t it funny how the longer you stay somewhere you start adapting more and more to the local dress scene. It has taken me almost 4 weeks to really get into the flip flop groove once again.

Note how it’s easy to combine the dress with a yellow bag and pink footwear, simply because of the range of colours on the dress itself.

My collection of bracelets seem to be growing too. Two from Europe, then a leather one bought as souvenir on Waiheke Island and the pink one a present from my Mum, bought in Matakana.

Let the shoes do the talking…

Proving that a simple change in shoes can take your outfit from beach to date nite in seconds!

On that note I wish you all a fabulous day!

  1. I just love that dress! I am really not a dress person but that is just a truly super funky fantastic one! I’m off to my local Violet Fish stockist shop to see if I can find one! Great find!

    1. Thanks Maria, I was going through last years pictures and realised that sometimes we even get to wear Summer clothes much earlier than we think here in Europe 😉

Hope your weekend is going well!

    1. Hi Rae,

I just checked and it seems you are right.
So we have a couple of options:
      1) I ask them to add NZ to their shipping list.
      2) We send to an address in Singapore and then to you (downfall being the carbon footprint)
      3) we contact them directly and ask them to ship to you.

I think it would look super cute on you.

  2. Your handkerchief dress is fabulous with those colorful stripes. Love that yellow straw bag with it too. And I love how the dress looks with both the breezy sandals and the gorgeous heels. =) Also, your mum looks fantastic, too!
