5 FunkyForty Favourite Spa Hotels in Switzerland – 2022

Hi Everyone,

Surprisingly one of the biggest hospitality trends since the pandemic is the spa hotel.

Most interesting in this trend is the urge for beautiful spa spaces where people can spend time together or make new friendships. Many had spent so much time in their own family unit over the past two years that there is a real craving to go out there and socialise all the more. The calmness of a beautiful spa also being fabulous for mind body and soul.

Asia was the first in creating beautiful spa spaces but Europe has since come a long way and Switzerland in particular has many beautiful spa hotels. Today I’m sharing 5 of my favourites. If you like this article you might also like to check out my 5 favourite Swiss hotels for 2021 here.

Keep treading for “5 FunkyForty Favourite Spa Hotels in Switzerland – 2022”. Note they do not come in any particular order.

5 FunkyForty Favourite Spa Hotels in Switzerland – 2022

1. The Royal Savoy Lausanne Hotel & spa

The Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa first opened in 1908. Originally called the “Royal Hotel” as the “Savoy” was a different neighbouring hotel. However later the two hotels merged into the “Royal Savoy” as we know it today.

The hotel has of course had many famous guests over the years. The Royal Family of Spain lived in exile at the hotel for some time and King of Thailand was also a regular guest.

The building has always been an iconic landmark in Lausanne and was recently (2015), reopened after an over CHF 100 million makeover, including adding a new garden wing and fabulous spa area.

I love the Asian feeling of the spa and the fact it is super easy from the hotel to take a boat trip over to Evian for the day.

2. La Réserve Genève – Hotel and Spa

La Réserve Genève – Hotel and Spa is like a hidden gem. Located in a residential suburb approximately 5 kms outside the centre of Geneva, right on the shores of the Lake. Only 3 kms from the Geneva International Airport.

In summer there is a Venetian gondola that will take you from the hotel pier directly into the centre of Geneva. I am definitely going back to experience this!

The Spa Nescens draws on the scientific and medical expertise of the in-house  Nescens brand as well as having La Prairie products.

3. Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken

Initially starting off as Pension Victoria in 1856, then in 1899 joined via a glass/metal construction to the hotel next door – hotel Jungfrau. So the beginning of the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa as we know it today. Already during the Belle Epoque the hotel was frequented by Royalty, renown artists and writers from across the globe.

Today the hotel is as majestic as ever, offering one of the best spas in Switzerland. It is now a part of the Michel Reybier Hospitality group as is La Réserve – Geneve.

The area around Interlaken is a bit like the Disneyland of Switzerland with so many fun things to see and do.

4. The Bürgenstock Resort

Be prepared to have your breath taken away this minute you drive through the huge gates leading the way to the Bürgenstock Resort .

First stop was the outdoor infinity edge pool is quite simply a dreamy experience. You can also book to go there for 4 hours or the day. Such an incredible sensation floating up high with the fabulous lake panorama beneath and mountain view in the distance. At 35° the water is warm enough to soak as long as you like…

There is also a Hollywood pool not to be missed, indoor pool and plenty of beautiful relaxing spots throughout with spectacular views over Lake Lucern.

5. The Cambrian Adelboden

I’ve only just visited The Cambrian Adelboden so chances are high you’ve already read the report here. Even a one night stay was such a beautiful experience. Truly feeling at one with nature. Engulfing the fabulous views and enjoying delicious locally sourced food.

“Rejuvenate, Revitalise & Relax” being the motto of the hotel when it comes to their spa area which has both an indoor and outdoor pool. The massage I had here was also one of the best ever – highly recommendable.

Adelboden is truly one of Switzerland’s best kept secrets. Not as well known as other mountain resorts means it has a wonderful mystical feeling of discovery and peacefulness.
