Hi Everyone,
One of the most underrated things to wear in Winter has got to be shorts. Yet they always make an impact and worn right they will look fabulous on most people – regardless of age!
Keep reading for 3 top tips for wearing shorts in Winter. These easy tips will make sure your every shorts outfit in Winter looks fabulous.
Plus at the end of this post my secret tip for being able to wear pretty blouses all year through without feeling the cold!
3 Top Tips for Wearing Shorts in Winter
-
The fitting
Unless you’re going for the up coming trend of wearing bicycle styled shorts, the most important thing to remember for shorts is the bottom part must be wider than your thighs.
The wider part at the bottom always makes thighs look a little slimmer!
2. The Fabric
It is Winter after all so the key to shorts is in the fabric. Make sure it is thicker – any flimsy shorts must seriously be saved for warmer seasons.
Ideal are thicker woollen fabrics or some sort of leather. I fell in love with these suede ones found in Paris earlier this year.
3. The Legs
It’s Winter so tights are needed. Stick to black as these are always the most slimming and have the greatest impact for shorts.
Alternatively you could team your shorts with coloured over the knee boots and matching tights. Whatever you do, don’t wear over the knee boots in one colour and tights in a totally different colour. This will simply have the effect of chopping your legs up into small pieces – oh no!!!
My secret tip for being able to wear pretty blouses all year through – easy really. It’s all about wearing a thin cashmere top under your blouse. I’m currently living in these cashmere tops from Intimissimi.

Yvonne,
Love this post! Your outfit is adorable on you! I do wear shorts in the winter, but our climate is quite a bit warmer, so usually not with tights. But if we get a cool spell, I’ll give that a try!
Thanks for sharing,
xx Darlene
I tell you it’s great fun… hides the knees too 😉
Happy weekend dear,

I had a gorgeous pair of colbily blue suede shorts in the early 90’s and loved wearing them with turtlenecks and always tights…if I saw a pair of shorts like that again , I’d definitely wear them again xx this outfit on you is gorgeous Yvonne❤️💙
Such a great idea – whilst in town yesterday I spotted a short sleeved turtle neck – might have to go back and actually buy it 😉

Love that you sort of created a fun, modern and crisp suit out of these brick-red pieces. Gorgeous coat, hat and button-down shirt. But I love the suede shorts the best. They are perfect for the cold weather! I always love your street style. =)
