The topic home is certainly one of growing importance throughout 2022. The days are over when only the select few have stylish homes. Today it’s more about MOST of us adding that style aspect to our homes.

The challenge is being able to think out of the box and visualise that next step needed to transform our home into our personal stylish haven.

This is when I can truly recommend turning to the experts. It really does make such a difference. Taking my own advice I consulted with Zingg Lamprecht (Zurich’s most iconic design house) to get their take on how to create the most stylish home. 10 Tips for Creating the Most Stylish Home – According to Zingg Lamprecht

 

1. Using statement plants

So here’s the deal – gone are the days of having an abundance of small plants around the home. Today it’s about creating a stylish atmosphere using beautiful statement plants or simply one plant.

Don’t you just love the way this stunning bonsai tree is making an impact inside the home despite actually being placed outside.

2. Adding colour

The touches of red and purple in this room make it so stylishly cosy. These colours invigorate the brain and give you a great space to be at home and visualise wonderful things going forward.

Note that the colourful pieces can simply be books, paintings and cushions making them items you can easily replace to change the mood of a room.

3. Todays chandelier

Remember the days when every “good” home had to have a wonderful chandelier…

Zingg Lamprecht tells me placing emphasis on beautiful lights is one of the most stunning things anyone can do in their home.

4. Mirror it bigger

Having a small space is no excuse for not making it stylish. Add a carefully placed large stand-alone mirror and create the perception of a much bigger space.

You can also have a mirror wall or partial wall. It is however a good idea to consult the experts to make sure you place your mirror in the right spot.

5. Turn light spaces into cosy sitting areas

Looking at this picture certainly makes me want to redesign our lounge to create a window sitting area… I know just the spot too – smile.

6. Warming a space with carpet

This room is incredibly large and the floor is a polished marble. The large dark carpet instantly adds that cosy feel to the room whilst maintaining a contemporary classy look.

Darker carpets are great for larger rooms. Carpets are still a great asset for smaller spaces but then it is better to focus on lighter shades.

7. Create multiple sitting areas

This has to be the most fun concept anyone can adopt in their own home. Gone are the days of always sitting in the one spot on your sofa. Today it’s about having different sitting spaces you can relax in depending on your mood…

Let’s have apero on the sofa, dinner at the table and then coffee right by the fire. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect ritual…

8. Make the outside as beautiful as inside

Watch out for a lot more happening on this topic as this year unfolds. Todays gardens are a part of the home and the furniture should be chosen accordingly.

Speaking from experience – this is a concept we have adopted in our own home and in summer it is absolutely fantastic to pull back the curtains and create that feeling of a home that is twice the size it is in winter.

9. A new emphasis on art

Traditionally when we speak of art in the home many of us think of paintings on a wall. However the trend is moving more and more to 3 dimensional art including interesting sculptures and anything els that you might fall in love with.

This piece reminds me of a guardian angel protecting the home.

10. Turning your fireplace into a real statement

A fireplace can really become the focal point of any room – time to make it particularly awesome. There’s another element in this photo which is also becoming ever more important and that is the use of natural materials  such as the stone on the wall and around the fireplace.

Wherever possible focus should be placed on using materials to be found close to where you live. This is inside a mountain chalet.
