The Secret to Styling Yellow with Black

Hi Everyone,

Yellow is a colour that’s featuring large this Winter. It’s such a cheerful colour I love using it as my goto on dreary Winter days – needless to say today is exactly one of those!

Wearing black as a contrast colour with yellow can work wonderfully or it can end up making you look like a bumble bee. No one wants that right – smile!

The simple secret to styling yellow with black is to do one of the following:

1) Have one of yellow or black colours dominate the outfit and only wearing a little of the other. for example as a pair of shoes or bag or top, or

2) Make sure the outfit doesn’t go black, yellow, black. If however the outfit does have repeating colours make sure there is some neutral space in-between. Just like todays outfit. Wearing black tights with this look would not have the same chic effect.

3) Break up the outfit with something fun like a checkered bag.
