The Return of the Pencil Skirt

Wow, after seasons of skirt trends being either maxi or mini, Fall/Winter 2023 makes a surprising comeback with the knee length skirt. seen throughout the shows in both Milan and Paris during the Fall/Winter 2023 fashion weeks.

To be honest though let’s face it – there is nothing more classy for the office than a lovely knee length pencil skirt. So let’s celebrate the comeback of this delightful trend.

Personally I love the fact that you can team a good pencil skirt up with any top. Either a knit or pretty blouse or even a simple white t-shirt. Whatever top you choose you are dressed right for the office.

The Return of the Pencil Skirt

This skirt is made by my favourite Swiss sustainable denim brand (who ship internationally), “The Blue Suit“. It was especially designed for a good friend of theirs named Kattie. Kattie was looking for a pencil skirt she could bike in. One that had pockets and didn’t look too stiff.

So here we have it the brilliantly comfortable pencil skirt with a bit of stretch, two pockets and small split up the back to make it perfect for biking to work as well.

Pencil skirt styling tips:

Footwear:

Pencil skirts always look great teamed with heels – kitten heels are the hottest trend for Fall/Winter 2023. Personally I would stick to thinner heels and not go for wedged heels with pencil skirts.

A stylish pair of brogues is also a great option for those of you who don’t like wearing heels.

The right top:

As mentioned right at the beginning, any top can be worn with your pencil skirt. These skirts should be worn figure hugging so both bulky or slim fitting tops will look great.

Length of top:

Do watch the length of your top however. Longer tops worn over your sleek pencil skirt will most likely take the lovely pencil skirt chic and turn it to frumpy.

Tuck in somewhere:

When wearing a pencil skirt either team it with a cropped sweater or tuck the top at least part way into the skirt to reveal the waistband. This also applies to pencil skirts that sit on your hips.
