New York Fashion Week – 6 Australian Designers Leave a Lasting Impression

Hi Everyone,

Just back from New York Fashion Week and the one show which really sticks in my mind was the one featuring 6 different Australian designers. Beautiful collections with each designer telling a story of their own.

6 different Australian designers…

Is it that I come from New Zealand – just around the corner – or is there truly more to Australia and Fashion design than many of us have realised. One thing for certain is that I personally have fallen in love with the Australian label Kamare So much so that it was the only label I wore just now for a long weekend in Beaune. See Instagram for details.

A focus throughout the collections has been to create looks that will suit a variety of body types – not just those who are super skinny. Velvet and tule were highlights. The pant suit remains an elegant staple. Black and white worn in unison remain a great look for Summer. Choose your length – however it’s best to focus on either maxi or short above the knees Denim, khaki, gingham, and stripes may not be new but continue to feature on the trend list for 2020.

The bell shape is far removed from today’s evening and wedding wear. Replaced by slimline silhouettes and floaty fabrics that can be played with as the wearer desires.

1. House of Campbell

“House of Campbell speaks to the leaders, innovators and visionaries – not simply fashion followers. Believing beauty does not exist in one size. Confidence is not found through comparison.”

Creative Director, Abby PotterHouse began her sewing career at her grandmother’s sewing machine. With the House of Campbell label she seeks to combine innovative, forward-thinking designs, with sustainable fashion for all women.”

This runway collection can be purchased online here.

I love the deep rich red velvet in this collection. Also love the simplistic elegance of these designs.

One thing for certain, tule is here to stay…

2. Sonya Swim

No one can ever deny that the Australian’s are tops when it comes to swimwear. This collection proves this once again. Plus adds some beautiful Summer looks that made my heart melt…

Simple black and white at their best for Summer…

3. DEA the label

DEA the label believes that plus-sized women shouldn’t think of themselves as a size. They should think of themselves as women with rich goals in life. Size doesn’t mean, really, anything. You can carry your size with pride and dress in a way that you like for an outfit is a weapon to help all women of all shapes and sizes obtain goals and dreams or simply blow-away a room with your presence.
