Hi Everyone,
All Swiss mountain resorts are a fabulous way to destress and recharge from every day city life. However Pontresina, a mere 10 minute drive from St Moritz, certainly has something extra special about it. Much smaller than St Moritz but very refined.
The main street of Pontresina is lined with beautiful old Engadine style buildings, the sound of the river Inn wherever you are and a magnificent panoramic mountain view. Imagine all of this combined with a Fairytale like castle hotel. “Fairytale like” is the only real way of describing Hotel Walter. A family run hotel by Anne-Rose und Thomas C. Walther, nestled right in the heart of Pontresina’s main street.
As you glide up the driveway you’ll be met by the super charming concierge and things only get better from there. A beautiful entrance with huge lights hanging from the ceiling and a rich blue and yellow carpet set the scene. ย A fabulous lounge area decorated in rich greens with plenty of cosy seating areas and huge fireplace on the right. As a contrast to the left is the fun red and blue funky style bar. Both have grand pianos with live music.ย Down the end of the hall to the left is the Grand restaurant.
Enough of an introduction – now for my “10 Best Photo Impressions of Hotel Walther Pontresina”.
10 Best Photo Impressions of Hotel Walther Pontresina
My room:
Most rooms have been recently renovated. When booking it certainly pays to ask for a renovated room. The attention to detail in each room is spectacular. Note that most new rooms have different designs. A real delight for anyone remotely interested in interior design.
Lounge area
Containing everything possible to make you feel at home.
The Bar
Love the super funky interior…
The Grand Restaurant
Note there are 5 restaurants in total to choose from. We loved La Trattoria as well but the Grand Restaurant is my absolute favourite.
Last but not least – the pool area
