Hi Everyone,
I am so excited – since coming back from New Zealand I haven’t seen blue sky once until this afternoon – when it actually came out for 5 minutes! Amazing, I’m now hopeful for more real soon!
What’s your personal tip for surviving super cold winters? Mine is to resort to wearing sporty chic combined with a touch of bold colour. I’ve been told if it’s only an accessory that’s bold I’m not allowed to call it colour blocking. However to me it always feels like a type of colour blocking!
The Secret Revealed to Styling Winter Sporty Chic!
Sporty chic in winter has got to be one of my favourites! At home you’ll normally find me in a pair of leggings and sloppy top. Transferring from this to a respectable outdoor sporty chic solution takes a matter of seconds. Sounds crazy but sometimes mastering this look can even seem easier than mastering an OK hot summers day look!
The secret to styling winter sporty chic is super simple with four basic items needed:
- Good thick leggings
- A knee length or longer coat
- Knee or over the knee boots
- A thick scarf
The leggings here are especially reserved for winter as they are thicker than normal – you will all laugh when I confess to having bought them at the Warehouse in NZ several years ago!
Today I decided to break up largely all black with a soft blue shirt – it’s actually sleeveless and meant for summer but I have been wearing it heaps during winter as it really does soften the all black.
The bag is from Save My Bag – an Italian brand that’s slowly making it’s way further afield. Love the fact that you can attach your initials to the strap around the middle and of course I love the colour – always guaranteed to brighten up the coldest of cold winter days.
So voila – the secret to styling winter sporty chic revealed.

I agree Yvonne…layers, layers and more layers!!
And that’s exactly one of the reasons I love my OTK boots so much—they are warmer!!

You manage to look stylish while keeping warm – a feat that we Brits rarely pull off! The leggings and over the knee boots look sublime.
