Packing for Summer vacation is often not as simple as we think. How often is it that you think you have packed just right and then once you are on vacation you realise you haven’t brought along things that you really need.
Whilst packing we all think of what to wear during the day, special or pretty outfits for the evening, something for the beach. However who ever thinks of packing items for down time. Something to relax in after a day out. Something to slip over should the weather decide to get a bit breezy. Or an outfit for simply lounging around in whilst in your vacation home/hotel!
I remember one year we were going to Normandy and we were having a heat wave in Zurich as I packed. So in went all lovely hot weather pieces. The minute we got past Burgundy the weather turned and dropped at least 15 degrees with rain. The cold weather lasted all week and I was lucky to have packed one pair of white jeans. I did have to buy a warm sweater though.

This poncho has got to be my all time favourite pice for taking on any vacation. Roll up to use as a pillow, use instead of a blanket. Throw over a shorts or jeans outfit for chilly evenings. Or simply pop over your bikini after a long day in the sun and be ready for aperitif.
