There are parts of Switzerland that always make me feel as though I’m in a real live Disneyland whenever I visit. This is exactly how I would describe the whole area around Thun and Lake of Thun.
Impressive mountains surrounding the area, a beautiful glistening lake, many magical castles and an endless amount of activities for all ages. I could stop there as far as trying to tell you Thun is one place that should definitely be on your bucket list. However combining this with a stay in one of the Delta Park Luxury Lake Villas has to be one of the coolest vacations that one can possibly have. We spent a long weekend there and were certainly sad to leave. A sure sign that we will be coming back – smile!
Thun is a mere 1.5 hour train ride from the centre of Zurich or under 2 hour drive by car. Making it an easy weekend getaway. The Delta Park Luxury Lake Villas are a part of the much larger Delta Park Vital Resort. In addition to 3 Luxury Lake Villas, Delta Park Vital Resort has 106 rooms and suits, distributed across 3 buildings.

Delta Park Luxury Lake Villas – How to Look 10 Years Younger within 48 Hours
Whenever we go away I send my Mum pictures and this time as always I sent pictures on Friday right through to Sunday. On Sunday she says “wow Reto (otherwise referred to as Hubby), looks 10 years younger”. I thought this was so funny that I just had to include it in the title of this article.
In fairness we both truly felt incredibly relaxed after the weekend – it was more like the feeling you get after one week away than simply a weekend.
There are 3 luxury lake villas belonging to the Delta Park Vital resort. All nestled around the edge of this secured private lagoon. This was the gorgeous view from our villa. The villa in front also belongs to Delta Park so when you book you can ask for villa 23 if you wish to have the most frontal lake view. Ours was villa 19 and we loved it.
Each villa has 180 square metres living space and a 50 square meter outside deck. They are furnished with large entertaining sized dining tables both inside and outside. Flat-screen TV’s are in the lounge and one in each bedroomA fully equipped kitchen with expresso machine and fridge/freezer wit ice dispenser.
Note the flooring which has been especially designed to replicate the deck of a yacht. One of the many details throughout to make you feel like you are sailing rather than simply being on land.
There are 3 double bedrooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom.
Each bathroom is slightly different but I love the attention to detail with different matching decorations throughout. Note the aqua nuances in each room – resembling the colour of water.
The villa’s are duplex with 2 bedrooms and the lounge, kitchen upstairs. Downstairs there is one double bedroom, a generously sized double garage with internal access into the villa and the best bit of all…. Yes, your own private boat garage with boat hoist.
You can choose to either bring along your own boat or rent one for the duration of your stay. The rental boat can also be driven without a license.
Breakfast is included in the price of the lake villa and is a rich buffet located in the main Delta Park Vital Resort building.
Reception and bar/lounge area of the main part of the Delta Park Vital Resort:
As you walk into the reception area the lounge/bar also becomes visible. An inviting place to relax and have a drink or read a magazine.
Time to visit the Spa:
You’ll find the spa nestled closer to the lake, a short walk from the main Delta Park Vital Resort building.
There is a huge range of medical wellness and health management services available. I recommend researching these before your arrival.
The wellness area itself is on 4 floors and over 2’000 square meters in size. Including an indoor saltwater and outdoor freshwater pool.
Private Spa Suite
There are 3 themed (Asia, Swiss Chalet and Africa), duplex private spa suites. The most amazing way to spend a romantic, chilled out 2 hours with your loved one or “bestie”.
We were given the “African Lodge” private spa suite, beautifully prepared with fresh water and pretty fruit platter.
Downstairs was the sauna and steam bath.
Upstairs is a bubble bath and day bed.
My bikini is from Cosy Sunday – available online here.
Striped shirt also Cosy Sunday – available online here.
The next day Hubby went back for a Thai massage which he said was amazing!
Boating on Lake Thun
I really did think it was the coolest thing ever to be able to access our boat from within our lake villa.
You can park your own boat here or else there are “Saver 520 open” motorboats available for hire. Boating drivers license not necessary. You can also hire SUP’s, kayaks, canoes and rowboats… as I said at the beginning of this article – there truly is something for everyone.
We took turns driving, so I could also spend some time relaxing at the front of the boat, letting the water splash my feet…
I honestly can not think of a better way than this to spend a lovely summers Saturday afternoon…
PS: bathing suit is from Lake-You Swimwear – available online here.
There are a number of restaurants to choose from at the Delta Park Vital Resort – see more about these here.
We ate at the Delta verde. A Thai restaurant which has 13 Gault&Millau points and is located on the ground floor of the spa building.
Being a beautiful sunny day we sat outside…
The food was absolutely delicious – truly authentic Thai cuisine cooked by 2 Thai ladies with the option of choosing how hot you would like any dish on the menu.
End of day:
Finally finishing our day by relaxing on our fantastic villa terrace…
Wearing our lovely soft bathrobes from Henriette Steffensen Copenhagen – available online here.
We absolutely adored our stay and are still dreaming of the overall beautiful weekend experience. The Luxury Lake Villas make the perfect escape too for a group of friends or extended family get together.
