Hi Everyone,
This was our third visit to Il Sereno – an indication of just how much we love the hotel. You might like to read my first Il Sereno Summer review here. The previous two times were in Summer so both hubby and I were curious what it would be like in Autumn.
You will find Il Sereno nestled along Lake Como just a 18 minute drive from Como city. The sign on the street for turning off is small so you have to focus to take the right turn – we have taken the road just in front by mistake twice now (I’m innocent with regard to this – smile). However each time we drive through the gates, the friendly porters opening our doors and instantly unpacking the car for us, makes our hearts jump for joy.
It only gets better with a super friendly team waiting for us at reception. We’re led to a super comfy sofa and served fresh herbal tea as we check into our room.
Keep on reading for a little pictorial account of “Return to Paradise – Il Sereno, Lake Como in Autumn”
Return to Paradise – Il Sereno, Lake Como in Autumn
First things first – time to check into our room. Each of the 40 suites has full lake view.
Interestingly however it is the lower floors that make you feel closest to the lake. The view being just as spectacular, regardless of which floor you are on.
Our room:
Nestled on the 2nd floor with a fabulous view over the lake.
The bed is super comfy – fabulous for anyone needing to recover from a hard week.
One of my favourite parts is the bathroom…
The copper toned taps and marble benches with matching walls give each bathroom an extremely luxurious feel.
I’ve decided my next bathroom will have this marble look to it but have yet to decide on whether it will be this caramel tone or more of an emerald green one.
The bathroom amenities at Il Sereno are the best out of any hotel I have ever stayed at and that is saying something!
In the picture above you see the body lotion. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner also come in these beautiful generously sized containers.
It would almost be criminal not to have a bath here…
The self drive boat a must do:
The self drive boating experience is really a must whilst staying at Il Sereno. There are two Ernesto Riva Jetto boats or if you really don’t want to drive there is the grand Vaporina del Lago which features interiors designed by Patricia Urquiola.
The boats are super easy to drive. There’s no speed limit on Lake Come but you have to stay 100m away from the shore and if a boat comes along your path the rule is to veer to the right.
We made it back safe and sound but next time I’m taking a picnic basket with me – smile!
Dinner
Chef Raffaele Lenzi cooked us the most delicious dinner. I loved the selection of canapés served with our apero glass of Franciacorta. Then came home made bread, so delicious I am still dreaming of it.
As a main I had pork belly and hubby a special version of Wiener schnitzel. Followed by a soufflé for dessert…
You can eat at the restaurant even if you are not staying at the hotel.

Il Sereno by night:
I’m sure you’ll agree with me that as far as night time views go, this one is pretty romantic.
Infinity pool:
One of the absolute highlights of Il Sereno would also have to be the infinity pool which would still have been warm enough to swim in but this stay we sadly ran out of time.
Breakfast:
One of the very cool things about breakfast at Il Sereno is that it seems to continue forever. Just as we thought we had finished another trolly came by with more delicacies to try.
So make sure you have enough time to really enjoy a relaxing morning dining by the lake…
Time to say goodbye:
Before we knew it, it was time to say good bye but we will be back again.
Il Sereno stays open until 15th November this year and then opens again next year in time for Easter.
