Hi Everyone,

WOW! This  was all I could say upon my arrival in Geneva, standing in front of the impressive new Dior store.

There is something so fascinating and inviting about this new store that I can truly recommend a visit for anyone remotely interested in architecture and design. Needless to say it is a “must” for any Dior fan. Six floors of fashion heaven including one floor totally dedicated to men – also worth a visit for us women. Personally I love some of the mens handbags – might just be my next bag investment – smile!

Christian de Protzamparc –  the first French architect to win the prestigious Pritzker Prize – designed this new flagship store in Geneva for Dior. It’s the second Dior flagship store designed by the architect. The first store being in Seoul. Both have facades  wrapped by white and oversized petal-like panels. Referencing back to the florals that are popular among Dior’s signature designs.

Looking up at six floors of petal-like construction certainly leaves you with a certain feeling of awesomeness.

The private salon on the sixth floor has a beautiful view overlooking the lake.

Throughout the building there are interesting works of art, including pieces by Pamela Rosenkranz, Ugo Rondinone, William Coggin, Martin Kline and Dashiell Manley, in homage to Christian Dior who was also a gallery owner and collector of art.

Fun fact: did you know that Christian Dior started his career in the art business. Rumour has it that his Mother thought this profession was beneath him. In fact he became bankrupt from the art business and only after, began a new career in fashion illustration. From there he moved on to becoming a fashion designer. Not only a regular fashion designer but one of the most famous ever and one that will certainly never be forgotten.

Personally I loved there central glass vitrine which carries on throughout the 6 floors of the building, showcasing draft Dior designs.

Just a little peek inside one of the couture consulting rooms. Many of us never get to see these so I thought I would add this for fun.

Conclusion:

On your next trip to Geneva I would put this wonderful new Dior flagship store on your list of things to discover, even if just from a design perspective. Of  course especially if you are a Dior lover. It is the only Dior store in Switzerland with a mens section.
