The Real Secret to Cultivating Your Dream Wardrobe

The Real Secret to Cultivating Your Dream Wardrobe

Hi Everyone,

How many times have you heard  the words “if I had the money I would also dress nicer/have a nicer wardrobe”? Maybe it’s even a quote you find yourself saying?

However the real secret to cultivating your dream wardrobe is time.

However the real secret to cultivating your dream wardrobe is time. A dream wardrobe isn’t created over night. Like all good things it takes time! Actually it takes years to be truthful. Yet by buying very carefully each season in what seems like little time you will have a fabulous wardrobe filled with key items you love to wear again and again.

Time is also about choosing the right time to buy.

Time is also about choosing the right time to buy. Right now in the middle of sales is the perfect time to begin cultivating your dream wardrobe which is why I decided to share my tips with you today!

The Real Secret to Cultivating Your Dream Wardrobe

Needless to say time alone won’t create your dream wardrobe. There is of course a strategy behind the end result.

My three key tips are:
1. One Love Affair per Season

Each season buy one special designer piece that you really really love. This piece should be something you would love regardless of the current fashion. Especially in todays world where almost anything goes it’s more about how you feel when you wear something. A piece you love will always look great on you and make you feel special.

The dress in the picture above is my Summer 2018 special piece – I fell so in love with it that I know it will keep making me feel special for some time to come!

2. The Early Bird Catches the Worm!

This means you need to research the shops before the sales start and then be ready to catch your prize right at the beginning of the sale season. This is when you will find the best designer pieces on sale!

3. The Perfect Fit

This may seem obvious but believe me I know we all do the mistake of buying something that is not necessarily the perfect fit.

Try on something after lunch, it feels tight but you think it will be ok normally -do not buy!  Try on something that is a little big in places but you love the colour and style so much – do not buy!

Especially beware – when a store sales person tells you you can easily get a piece altered to fit perfectly. Nine times out of ten it will never look right or fit how you wanted it to. Of course there may be the exception but in general save your money for the perfect fit pre any adjustments!

  1. I agree , with you Yvonne, my wardrobe has taken thought and effort and years to build , the pieces are not bank the bank expensive , but most items are timeless and can be worn for years because I love them , I make the same consideration for my fast fashion items , I want to wear them for many years to come , not just one season and then throw away . For me , when you know your style , it becomes easy . Those dress you are wearing are very beautiful investment pieces .
