Hi Everyone,
Sitting here in Milan at the end of day 1, COVID affected Fashion Week.
The day started off on a subdued note with hardly any people out. However as the afternoon rolled by and the sun came out things started looking a lot brighter. The photo above in particular hit my soft spot as it reminds me of my hubby who recently bought himself a similar hat (after being advised by moi).
As for the trends… the new casual is also affecting the most stylish of Milan with jeans appearing more than usual. You can’t go wrong with monochrome – still hitting the scene hard this season.
The square toed sandal is here to stay – featuring big on the runway. On the mask front there was basically a sea of surgical and black masks with only a few more decorative ones out there. Chunky boots are a must have for Autumn.
Fendi is having a thing about their mini pink bag. Interestingly enough, despite sunshine sunglasses were not the major accessory this season.
The Italians are taking the same stance of; either you wear a mask that really matches your outfit or you stick to the disposable surgical version!
Shorts are here to stay. In general fashion week Milan started off with a much toned down version of street style.

I love your Blog and the Fashion is absolutely fantastic and chick I absolutely adore it and wished that I was there to thank you for showing all those nice streeystyles
You are so sweet – love you to the moon and back xoxo
Great to see the new trends, I always love those street style shots!
Thanks so much dear Nancy xoxo
I love the pink! But I’m baffled and impressed by the super high skinny heels on the cobblestones!
Excuse my ignorance about these things, but are these actual people just walking around dressed like this or are these ladies wearing clothes to show off designers or both?
I did visit Milan and noticed the best ‘street style’ was the Chinese tourist getting on and off tourist busses! I had to stop a couple ladies and chat and tell them how much I loved their outfits and they were so thrilled! They had such a good time shopping and choosing outfits and I loved hearing about their shopping adventures and recommendations.
I don’t suppose next time you are in Milan you can do some photos of the city as well? You take such amazing photos and Milan is a place I would like to get to know better. Thank you!
Hi Sue,
Such a good point. Actually my plan was this time to show more of the city if Fashion Week didn’t work…
I will make an effort to do some special stories for you today and take photos of Milan itself and my favourite places.
Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for being such a loyal reader of FunkyForty.
Big Hug,
Yvonne
Your welcome! I just happened to be in Milan last year during Fashion Week for a one day stop-over, ( wondered why the hotel rooms were so expensive!) and had such a good time! I had planned to go back for a longer visit this year!
Your blog is my favourite because it’s all about all my favourite things! And your photos are absolutely lovely!
Love this! I’m just checking the big web for some inspiration, and came across your site! I loooooved the long, grey coat with the little pink purse! Do you have any idea where that coat is from?! I want it, yesterday! 🙌🙌
Love from Norway,
-Jenny
Hi Jenny,

Yes, both the coat and little purse are Fendi.
