Hi Everyone,
Once again it’s the first Tuesday of the month so welcome to the April Ageless Style theme: Pastels. Sounds easy enough doesn’t it – but pastels are actually a lot more tricky to combine successfully that many other colours. Especially if the whole look is to be pastel.
Ten ladies, showcasing their version of this theme in their ageless style. It’s always exciting to see what each of them come up with. We never share photos beforehand so it’s a complete surprise to us all – I love the fact that we all come up with something so different and end up inspiring each other in new fashion directions. This month we are minus one and plus two new women so make sure to take a look at our lovely new members blogs (listed at end of post).
The linkup is at the end of this post so make sure you stay tuned 😉
How to Style Pastels to Perfection
When the topic of Pastels came up I started going through my wardrobe in my mind trying to think of a total pastel outfit…
The only pastel coloured skirt I own is this pink one – bought two years ago on holiday in Dubai. So it had to be a whole pastel outfit around that skirt. First thing I remembered a super cute Bally bag I bought over 10 years ago and then a few years ago gave to my daughter so I asked her if I could borrow it for the photo shoot. Fortunately she said yes but only if she approved of the overall outfit – guess this is fair enough – smile!
Pastels are a lot more tricky to combine successfully that many other colours. Especially if the whole look is to be pastel. One trick is to get the tone right. The shoes and skirt in this outfit are not exactly the same tone but they complement each other nicely.
If ever in doubt with pastels use white to complete the outfit – this always works.
Slightly side tracking here – I discovered these rings recently at my favourite jewellery store here in Zurich – Mir Design. They are silver with real stones. I’m not keeping them all but am still playing around with which colours I should keep. Need at least 2! Fortunately being silver they are an affordable price – depending on the stone.
Back to pastels – other than white the next tip for making a pastel outfit work is to repeat the tones – like with this top from Ann&Line (there’s a cute pastel pink one currently available online), with similar toned mules – available here.
Recap – 2 basic tips for styling pastels:
- Team with white
- Repeat the same tones

Give me your shoes, woman! Haha! You did an amazing job styling your pastels and I enjoyed your tip. You look fabulous in both looks, Yvonne. Pastels are not my thing at all, so this was a fun challenge this month.
Haha, you’re not going to believe this but shoes are cheapy’s found in H&M in December…
xoxo Yvonne
Your soft pink skirt is gorgeous but what I’m really loving are those shoes! Both looks are fab!

Doused In Pink
Thank you so much Jill – the shoes are simply H&M – but I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them.
Have a great day!

Love the shoes!
When you visit I’ll take you shopping 😉
I adore each and every outfit pairing. I didn’t realize the sheer skirts could be so versatile. I always think dress up, but now that I know it can go casual, I’m gonna have to pick one up.
Thanks Daenel – have a great day and good luck skirt hunting
xoxo
I like pastel colours especially in the summer when you have a nice taint from the sun. Xxx
So true – a nice tan always makes everything look even better 😉

The light blue suits your blonde hair so well <3

I do love pastels but don’t own much in my wardrobe – probably because some pastels can wash me out a little bit. But I love the idea of a pastel skirt. I love yours!

Thanks Suzy, all I can say is it’s worth the investment I keep on pulling it out each season and it’s possible to wear in winter even 😉
