Just back from a fantastic four days adventure in Canton Wallis, Switzerland. Those of you following me in Instagram will have already been guided through the whole trip via my posts. For the rest of you there will be write-ups of everything here soon – smile!
In preparation for the trip I was on the look out for good mountain clothing when a dear friend of mine told me about the Swiss brand ROTAUF.
Researching, I was impressed to read that 100% design, testing and making of each piece is done in Switzerland. Deciding to order an outfit for the trip I was even more surprised when a small box 34cm x 30cm, arrived. Inside was 2 pairs of trousers, one sleeveless insulation vest, one t-shirt, one hoodie and one ultra light jacket! Amazing! I let out a huge sigh of relief realising for once it was going to be super easy to fit all my mountain and evening wear in one smallish suitcase!

The Best Mountain Clothing You Can Buy – ROTAUF
It was a passion for combining mountain sports with the right clothing that made a team of passionate people come up with the concept behind ROTAUF. All producers and suppliers come from Switzerland.
Main materials are organic cotton, organic Merino silk and Grisons wool. All materials are PFC/PFAS free and 100% recyclable.
Anyone spending time in the mountains knows how important functional clothing is. They also mostly have to compromise between what they take and being properly prepared, but with ROTAUF you can truly have both as everything folds down super small.

It was a warm morning in Zermatt so I started the day wearing:
T-shirt and
Active pants (which have a super nice fit).
Right at the highest platform at the Klein Matterhorn, it was time to wrap up.
Wearing Ultra light jacket on top.
The jacket is made breathable 3-layer laminate. Taped seams so moisture gets out, but not in. Great protection against both wind and rain.
At some point deciding to wear the Insulation Vest over the Ultralight Jacket for fun…
As the day went on and we travelled down towards Cervinia, things warmed up once again.
Side note: we did the new Matterhorn Alpine Crossing. So much fun to also be able to go all the way to Italy in Summer now. Previously this was only possible in Winter and with skis or snowboard. More about this trip on FunkyForty.com soon!
