The Number One Fashion Rule this Fall/Autumn

The Number One Fashion Rule this Fall/Autumn

Hi Everyone,

What an interesting turn around we’ve been having on the fashion front. COVID saw most of us climb into comfy track pants and more or less become hermits. Then came the great escape and desire to parade. With many of us reaching deep into the money we saved during the pandemic, to spend on both travel and flashy clothing. Now that this is out of our system, comes the realisation that it is time to think more about long term wardrobe sustainability.

Long term wardrobe sustainability is a part of the number one fashion rule this Fall/Autumn. Here the term “sustainability” refers to the basic pieces we have in our wardrobes. The pieces we need to mix and match with everything else we have. Also the pieces we climb into for comfort the minute we get home. All too often these are the pieces people are prepared to spend the least amount of money on. Yet I will always preach that when it comes to your clothing you should invest the most money on this pieces you wear the most. Plus wearing good quality basics have the same impact as designer bags. They make your whole outfit look more expensive.

The Number One Fashion Rule this Fall/Autumn

The number one fashion rule this Fall/Aurumn is to focus on having only high quality basics in your wardrobe. You don’t need 10 white t-shirts that all have some fault because you bought them cheaply from a high street store. However you do need 2 – 3 good quality white t-shirts that fit well and will stand the test of time.

The same can be said for hoodies. They are truly one of the best basics a wardrobe can have. Admit it most of us love them in Autumn/Fall. Instead of buying many, stick to a couple that are high quality, have something special about them and once again stand the test of time.

The hoodie pictured above is from COSY SUNDAY and can be ordered online here.

The oversized fit and pockets make the hoodie extremely comfortable.  Pleated sleeves add a fun touch. It is made out of organic cotton, cashmere and silk. Wear it with anything from pants to jeans or even a silk slip skirt or maxi pleated skirt.

The trousers are made from merino wool, super comfy and available online here. They would also look great teamed more formally with a blazer.

A good sweater is also a basic that should be bought according to quality rather than quantity.

I love this one with the hole detail and beautiful neutral tone so it literally can be worn with every other bottom in my wardrobe from jeans to pretty pleated or floaty chiffon skirts.
