Hi Everyone,
A super busy Paris Fashion Week drew to a close Tuesday this week. Life was back to pre-COVID days and more in Paris this Fashion Week season with the return of Asian celebrities and even more street fashionistas plus photographers than ever before.
The runway shows were an interesting mix of moving ready to wear towards haute couture and making room for casual fun. Some shows appeared conservative, showcasing designs we have certainly all seen before. Whilst others went way out to reinvent the meaning of the runway.
Designer summary:
This season Angelage used fashion to explore the evolution of human perception. Pushing photochromic technology to new levels with outfits changing colour right in front of our very eyes. The collection blended 50’s inspired shapes & futuristic materials that change colour when exposed to natural sunlight (UV rays).
Issey Miyake‘s head designer Satoshi Kondo was fascinated by the dimensions of a square this season. Investigating various ways to transform the square into new shapes and volumes. A section of this seasons collection featured protruding dresses and trousers all cleverly cut from one continuous piece of stretch polyester.
LEONARD PARIS had a fun new introduction of the fury boot – or new take on moon boots. Worn with fury skirts, this was certainly a fun new take for autumn/winter 2023 to come. On the animal print side the zebra motive featured here and was also spotted on the runways Milan.
Nehera presented a story of comfort and elegance in one. Using monochrome looks in black and grey tones to add a sense of stripping away excess and focusing on clean, fluid lines. There was a certain amount of genderless freedom in most looks. Loafers and socks remained an item. The touch of tartan was refreshing.
The Shang Xia autumn/winter collection was inspired by an art installation at the Barbican Centre in London in 2010. I was fascinated by the invisible heel shoes. Plenty of oversized sweaters with detail, worn over tartan skirts. Silk dominated the evening looks. An interesting collection mixed up of clean lines with pops of colour.
