Why every woman needs a wrap dress!

Hi Everyone,

The wrap dress has been around a lot longer than we think. Starting off as house dresses called “Hooverettes” during the great depression. In the 1930’s Elsa Schiaparelli designed the wrap dressAlong with Coco Chanel, her greatest rival, Elsa Schiaparelli is one of the most prominent fashion designers from the time of the two World Wars.

It was however the Diane von Fürstenberg interpretation of the wrap dress in the 1970’s that really first made them very popular.  Knee-length, in a clinging jersey, with long sleeves. Easy to remove, the dress was a sign of woman’s liberalisation and sexual freedom.  Diane von Fürstenberg has claimed her divorce inspired the design.

Now in 2018 wrap dresses once again see a revival onto the HOT list of trend fashion items to own.

Why every woman needs a wrap dress!

Apart from being hot on the trend list right now, a wrap dress is the one dress that will flatter most women.

Absolutely perfect for showing off a larger décolleté. Anyone with larger breasts literally needs a collection of wrap dresses as these are perfect for you!

Also great for turning the most petite of figure into a more womanly shape. However in this instance you need to be careful to choose a wrap dress with fuller skirt like the one shown in this post.

I love teaming almost anything with trainers – having fallen in love with these from Michael Kors as they match the MaxMara bag and dress perfectly. You could of course dress up the whole look with a lovely pair of heels and a more formal bag.

All photos in this post were taken at Hostal de la Gavina, a real hidden pearl along the coast just 1.5 hours north of Barcelona. My hubby and I just spent a fabulous 3 nights there celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We are both still dreaming of the wonderful time we had. More about this wonderful hotel and surrounding area on blog soon but first today I’m off to Sydney Fashion Week!

  3. Lovely dress and daring to combine it with those sneakers. I am still getting used to that trend and have not embraced it yet. Still, I love women who have done so! Have a great time in Sydney! Love, Lieske

  4. Love the fashions of Schiaparelli. Didn’t realize she designed wrap dresses. They are one of those timeless looks. Your dress is adorable with its fuller skirt. And the trainers look really cute with it.
