Even more importantly self-kindness is an essential component of good mental health.

According to psychologist and well known author,  Kristen Neff (2007), those who are self-compassionate are:

“Less likely to be critical of themselves and less likely to be anxious and depressed, which, in turn, leads to greater life satisfaction”.

Being kind to yourself is key to good mental health.

One of the simplest ways of being kind to yourself is to stop yourself from feeling  inadequate or stupid. Everyone has these moments – even those that appear to be amazing and successful at everything – what is key is how we deal with them.

I remember telling my boss about having to sit an online test 3 times before passing – I felt so stupid. He told me not to treat myself like this as if I take 3 times chances are very high that others took even longer. I later found out the average was at least 5 times before people passed. It was a lesson I remember today and it has helped so much. 

If you find something difficult then for sure others will too, they just won’t necessarily admit to it.

It lets you reflect logically instead of taking others opinions personally and straight to the heart.
