Trend Alert: How to Style Brown

Over the past couple of seasons we have seen brown creeping up in trend status. Traditionally a colour coupled with words such as “dull” or “dowdy”, the brown of today is anything but!

In fact worn well brown can look every bit as classy, if not more, than the traditional black. There are a few simple tricks and key things to look out for. This post gives my personal tips for how to style brown.

Trend Alert: How to Style Brown

1. Brown and white will always work

For a crisp Summer vibe team your brown with white. An outfit solely comprising brown and white will always look crisp and well put together.

2. Keep it plain

Of course you can have pretty patterned brown items in your wardrobe. However to make a real statement brown will make more of an impact if worn as a plain solid colour.

3. Avoid teaming with dull earthy tones

Don’t get me wrong, I am the first to fall in love with and wear earthy tones. However when it comes to making a statement whilst wearing brown it is best not to team it up with dull earthy tones.

4. Team with brown accessories

Often you will see brown teamed with black accessories. However brown teamed with brown accessories will add a little something to every brown outfit.

5. Team with pastel blue or pink

Both pastel blue or pastel pink tend to work very well with brown. Making an outfit look crisp with a bit of fun to it. Be careful of other pastel colours though such as yellow, green, or orange as the impact will not be nearly as fresh and can make the outfit look bland.
