Top Trend – Slip Dress Inspiration

Hi everyone!

Todays post is about the slip dress – along with silk pyjamas the silk dress has been seen more and more on recent catwalks – the Fall 2016 John Galliano show in Paris was full of them. Celebrities can’t get enough of them – even Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker   and Kate Moss wear them.

Not necessarily a new trend as slip dresses have been worn for decades but they are making a revolutionary comeback in that they are now combined differently. Whilst previously only worn as party dresses with flimsy stiletto sandals and delicate over throws, the trend now is to dress them down.

Being weekend I decided to finally give this trend a try – grabbing out a very vintage nighty and combining with t-shirt and denim – surprisingly no one at home even complained at this new look…perhaps i’ll get away with it more often…am thinking of buying a proper slip dress for the Fall – smile!

  1. Hate all the shoes in the five…seems too clunky for the bare look

of the slips. Like how you styled it and think light colored shoes are a much better choice.

  2. So perfect, Yvonne! At first I was opposed to the slip dress trend feeling like it resembled a nightgown a bit too much. But then the layering came and I was sold! Now, I know yours is a nightgown, but it is so fabulous layered. Now, I may be on the hunt for a slip dress for fall (or perhaps there is something in my nightie drawer)! By the way, your loafers are equally amazing!

    1. Thank you so my for your comment Shelbee!
Looking back I can’t believe I openly confessed this was my nighty but never mind – there’s got to be something said for thinking outside the box right.
Love the loafers too – funny enough I can see them being more useful in Fall than summer even though they are pink.
I’m thinking of getting that last dress of the 5 I picked out – can imagine it going well with black boots and jacket in Fall or possibly even combining it with burgundy…

      Love your blog!
      xx Yvonne
