It’s not everyday I get truly excited about discovering a new clothing brand but Tidlos has succeeded.

First discovering it online and thinking that the ski underwear/ lounge sets looked pretty. Then when they arrived in my letter box and I felt the soft quality I was sold all over again.  I am not kidding – I have two sets and they are the only thing I have been wearing this winter ever since receiving them. Confession – I even wore this outfit on the train home from Cresta Palace Hotel (see article here).

Normally I freeze all through Winter no matter what. However since wearing my Tidlos outfits I’ve managed to stay cosy warm all day long.

The story behind Tidlos

Tidlos started as a dream of Sigrid, a Norwegian woman with a passion for the mountains who moved to Switzerland 15 years ago.

Sigrid felt Switzerland was in many aspects, truly, a home away from home: spectacular outdoors, winters in the cabin and a husband who was game to climb Kilimanjaro with her for their honeymoon.

But one thing was missing: the stylishness and timelessness of Nordic Knit patterns… So the desire to create sustainable but beautiful ski underwear that would be perfect for the Swiss mountains came to be.

Once she had her idea it took her a mere 2 months to get it all going and she hasn’t looked back since.

Sustainability starting with suppliers and zero waste

Sustainability is truly at the forefront of Sigrid’s mind as she started Tidlos.

As a result all manufacturers are located in Austria and Lithuania. The wool is sourced from mulesing free merino sheep on farms in New Zealand (where I was born and grew up). The wool is spun by Schoeller in Austria.

Zero waste is achieved by knitting the yarn directly into the shape of the final garment. This way there is no cut-out waste or leftovers.
