Hi Everyone,

If you’e been following FunkyForty on Instagram for awhile now you might think you’ve seen this outfit before and you are right! This cute Topshop suit features last December – almost a year ago now. At the time I thought it was simply a fun outfit with a bit of feather that would be cute for one season and ready to liquidate the next… little did I realise how wrong I would be.

The truth about the feather trend is that it is making a real comeback. It could also be construed as never really going out of fashion. It’s one of those trends that’s simply handy to have in your wardrobe. A touch of feather instantly gives any outfit a more festive look.

Rumour has it that Feathers are going to be the years Christmas party highlight. For a start Topshop has some fabulous feather mules (I’m going to have to get a pair I know!).

The Truth about the Feather Trend

Here are three feather outfit themes you might like to try for this coming festive season. When you click on the pictures you will be brought directly to the online store. Prices shown are in CHF but shipping is global.

  1. The mauve theme.

There’s something to be said for adding a bit of colour to your Christmas outfit and mauve has a certain special flavour to it…

2. Classic Black

Black will never date. Always handy in the wardrobe for those days you don’t know what to wear…

3. Nude tones

Nude tones are one of this seasons hot trends. You’ll see them during the day as pleated skirts teamed with chunky sweaters and long coats. However take them to the evening to make an even bigger statement…

To recap the truth about the feather trend is that it is making a real comeback. It could also be construed as never really going out of fashion.

Hi! I’m Yvonne, a 40 something Kiwi, living in Zurich. I love fashion, travel, shopping and food – believing chocolate will cure almost anything! I am also a Mum of a cute teenager (dare I say it).

  1. I definitely agree about the trend. It was big a few years back, then faded a little, but this year, seems to be back in full force. I love that suit. Just the feather detailing around the sleeve and pant leg is a great way to do the trend.
