The Fab 40’s Wearing a Pocket full of Pleats!

blackrabbitphoto_yvonne_6 The other day I was super excited to receive the most awesome mail from Diane of www.fashiononthe4thfloor.com, asking me to take part in the Fab 40’s monthly post. Each month a group of Fab 40’s women have a special theme which they promote. Everyone is free to style it the way they wish and then all post their style and include the other members in the post as well – what an awesome opportunity to give you readers a real insight as to how you can wear one theme in many different ways.

Skirt – Storm (similar here), Jacket – ASOS, Boots – vintage souvenir from Dijon (similar here), Jumper – (similar here), glasses – cerjo

I’m going to have to confess the day I had scheduled to do the photo shoot was absolutely dismal weather wise so all plans on doing a super summer styling went out the window. All I really felt like doing was curl up at home in front of the TV with a hot cup of tea…anyone who knows me also knows this is something I actually NEVER do despite my hubby often telling me he thinks it would do me good 😉blackrabbitphoto_yvonne_6-7

I figured it’s also good to have ideas for gross weather. This combination is one I would wear in New Zealand and probably not Switzerland – it’s funny how style really differs between the two hemispheres!

…and now for the looks of the other Fab 40’s women…

Meet Dawn Lucy  looking super stylish in her little black ensemble. Love the detail of Tattoo hose, and the combination of black lace top with over the knee pleated skirt – perfect for a nite out! I thought the tattoo was real when I first looked – hehe!

Here we have Diane, looking amazing and wonderfully summery in her pleated top. When I saw this I instantly wanted the top as well – it looks so cheerful, love the pattern  too! Love how she has combined it with skinny brown trousers – makes a great change from black.

This is Samantha  looking super cute in an off the shoulder white pleated top. Love the red detail in shoes, belt and bracelet – brings even more attention to the top – I think she looks like a fairy – smile.

Sheela Goh

Sheela of  Sheela Writes is wearing a lovely super feminine dress over trousers – so unique that it’s bound to turn heads – smile. Aren’t the heels on those boots a killer too – fabulous! The added touch of a metallic jacket tops the outfit off nicely.

A Pocketful of Polka Dots

Here we have lovely Jenny from A Pocketful of Polka Dots who confesses to having this skirt in her wardrobe for some time now and this challenge being the perfect excuse to finally take it out. These challenges are really a great opportunity to create a new outfit out of an existing wardrobe. Love the mint green combination with red hair – fabulous!

Meet Mary from Curlybyrdie Chirps. Love her classy elegant maxi dress with long pleated skirt. The touch of “cheer me up” colour is also fun with her bag matching the flowers on her dress.

Kremb de la Kremb Pleats 9

Last but not least Ann of Kremb de la Kremb. Adorable combination – love the skirt and shoes – you can pass those right on to me sweetie (smile). Super cute combined with a touch of denim too. I read in past challenges she made her own outfits so she definitely has huge creative talent.

Based on email exchange between us, coming up with a pleats look wasn’t as easy as it sounds. It is however super fun to see just how different everyone’s style is – proving once again that what you wear really is a part of your personality – so have fun sharing it with others around you. It’s also important to accept that different weather means different outfits and we can’t always be dressed for summer – even if we’d like to – smile!

Thank you for inviting me to join Fab 40s this month – it has been fun and I’m sure FunkyForty  readers have enjoyed this too!

Wishing you all a Marvellous Monday!

  2. Hi Yvonne, I am Ada. I have stopped by before. I enjoy your style and your blog so much. Great way to style such an awesome skirt. All of you ladies look fantastic in plaid, this week!

I have started a linkup on Thursdays which is going quite well. Would love for you to join me tomorrow with this stunning outfit and linkup your gorgeous style every Thursday too. Thanks, Ada. =)

    Happy Hump Day!

  3. Dear Yvonne,

Well, I am so happy that Diane introduced you to us. I am enamored by your style. Like seriously! You remind me of my sister–whom I’m always trying to be like. You’ve got this urban chic vibe that I want. I try. I do try. Then, color takes over, and I’m like, WAIT! I was trying to be cool. Anyway, I’ll say it again, I love your style. And I am really happy to have “met” you.

    Love, Ann

    1. Dear Ann,

Thank you so much for your lovely note. I am blushing. I seriously loved your colourful prints – can’t believe you have made me want to get Star Wars loafers – but they are awesome!!!

Your post today with the stripy t-shirt is awesome – seriously makes me want to be there with you right now!!! It’s reciprocal – I’m ever so glad to have met you too!

Have a great day, Love Yvonne XX
