Hi Everyone,
Fashion making a difference has always been something at the top of my “dada” list – and I’m always on the look out for ways of proving that fashion really can make a difference! So how wonderful it was to come across Rahul Mishra at Paris Fashion Week.
Rahul Mishra was recently featured in GQ’s Power List of “50 most influential Indians” and when you watch the show you’ll see why. This collection called “Handmade in India” is a collective effort of nearly 700 traditional Indian artisans. Watch each outfit carefully, see the depth and layer of multi dimensional embroidery. A combination of traditional forms mixed with the most forward looking trends all in one. Tartan, florals, frills and off the shoulder looks to name a few!
At the end of the post you’ll see where you can buy your own piece of Rahul Mishra.
Sustainable Fashion with Rahul Mishra – PFW Fall 2017
Inspired by a midnight walk through the Musée National d’Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou this collection explores the creative sphere of traditional artisans. Making the most of old hand techniques to create a modernist yet naive composition of nature similar to that seen in the 19th century European art movement.
The feature of Pointillism is used for the embroidery, creating colourful trees, flowers and cherries. Watch out for interpretations of the Pine Tree at St. Tropez by Paul Signac and Sunflowers by Van Gogh.
Rahul Mishra has a sustainable and fair trade business model, aimed at transforming and positively impacting the lives of local artisans. Personally I fell in love with the collection – I wonder if you will too.
