Second Time Around: Ageless Style Linkup

Hi Everyone, as you know once again it’s the first Tuesday of the month so welcome to  the March Ageless Style theme: Second time around. This means wearing something we haven’t worn for ages (possibly years) and styling it in a totally new way.

Nine ladies, showcase their version of this theme in their ageless style. It’s always exciting to see what each of them come up with. We never share photos beforehand so it’s a complete surprise to us all – I love the fact that we all come up with something so different and end up inspiring each other in new fashion directions.

The linkup is at the end of this post so make sure you stay tuned 😉

Second Time Around

Are you any good at throwing clothing away and keeping your wardrobe to the bare minimum of what you’re currently wearing? As I was working in the corporate world with a lovely salary I used to be brilliant at this. Leading to me still today pinning about a lovely Chloe skirt I once threw out. I mean THREW OUT!!! How mad is that!

Now I am much more cautious and only items that are broken or worn out leave my wardrobe. To be honest a happy medium of the two approaches would probably be best.

I still leave the minimum hanging and the rest is folded neatly and placed at the very top of my wardrobe. As this second time around theme was brought up I knew i’d have to reach up into that top shelf again.

3 basic questions I had to ask myself before creating this new outfit:
  1. What colours are trending right now?
  2. Which themes are trending?
  3. Is there an item that meets those two criteria and hasn’t been worn for years?

For colours I came up  with yellow and pink. Trends made me think of flowers. Then I remembered this very high summer yellow dress that I haven’t worn for at least 3 Summers running. The back is open in parts so it was my dress for extremely hot days.

Getting that creative mind going I pulled it out and decided to turn it into an early Spring outfit. I already had a favourite yellow jacket which doesn’t get worn that often but does manage to see the light of day at least once each season.

The yellows are different shades but decided to close an eye about this. With horrid chill outside I wasn’t going to photo shoot without some sort of coat – the pink keeps the look Spring like whilst giving fabulous warmth.

What bag and shoes though? I tried a number of them – even green ones – haha! Then finally remembered my lovely burgundy ones along with my little burgundy bag – completing the whole look nicely!

And here you have it the look I would never have thought of had the theme of second time around not come up. That’s a lesson learnt isn’t it – my challenge to you is to do the same exercise with your wardrobe and come up with a lovely new outfit for Spring using items unworn for ages. Have fun and feel free to send me any great looks you create, i’d love to see them.

  1. This is so gorgeous, Yvonne! I would have never thought to pair these bright yellows with burgundy and you have just shown me how well they work.

    1. Thanks sweetie.

It’s raining again today so it’s going to be hard to get out of black but perhaps i’ll need to revisit my own pictures for inspiration – haha.

I love the bright cheerfulness of your blog – so stylish too!

      xx Yvonne
