Situated in Zurich’s old town close to Bellevue Orlando Maroquinier’s shop is a real must visit for any bag lover. Not only can you get your own bespoke bag made for you, you can also attend one of his classes and make your very own bag.

After graduating from University in business administration, Orlando decided to swap his suit to follow his passion for traditional craftsmanship and being on the road. He acquired the savoir-faire of making handbags from a traditional maroquinerie-formation in Paris – the city of love, the city of lights and home to the most skilled artisans in leather craftsmanship.

Back in Switzerland, he opened his atelier combined with a showroom in Zürich where every bag is made by hand. Everyone is welcome to see and experience how a handbag is made.

Each piece is numbered and the vegetable tanned leather. In addition, most of Orlando’s leather is labeled organic and can be traced back to the farm of its origin.
The metal applications are made in-house from Ecobrass. A highly resistant brass, free from toxic additives like lead or nickel.

Personally I am super excited as am in the throws of getting my personalised handbag made – in baby blue as this was the hot colour of the season based on what we saw on the streets during this Milan Fashion Week.
