Hi Everyone,
Anyone who knows me also knows it’s one of my biggest passions to make the absolute most out of my wardrobe. You’ll often find me combining something new with a piece that hasn’t been worn for years. Being able to successfully do this requires a little imagination and a few simple guidelines to follow. It also requires careful consideration when cleaning out your closet to make way for new pieces.
My 3 basic guidelines when creating new outfits are so easy that I’m going to share them with you here:
- Always aim for an element of colour matching.
- Wherever both top and bottom are loose or fuller I like to create a semi waist with a little tuck (as with the blouse in the picture above).
- Add fun with a style mix. Formal pieces with casual and vice versa.

One Skirt, Two Ways to Wear
-
With an airy linen blouse and sneakers
I know linen creases a lot but it will remain one of my Summer favourites always. There’s something special about this Scarlet Poppies top – I also like wearing it over skinny jeans.
It is from a favourite store of mine New Collection and in the official picture I see it tucked fully into a pair of shorts. Will have to try that combination too some time.
As both the skirt and top are full in style, I created a bit of a shape to the outfit by tucking the blouse in a little in front.
Note how the sneakers have a touch of grey in them that matches the blouse. I love this combination so much that I had to do a little dance during the photo shoot – smile!

2. With pink waistcoat and metallic pink sandals
There’s something about these cute metallic sandals that also made me want to dance a little.
The sandals are Amigas sandals, lovingly hand made in Vietnam and available online in many different colours here.
The pink vest is one I bought last Summer. I’ve been hanging out to wear it more so let’s hope the warmer weather keeps up. I like the fact that it is a little more fitted over my skirt so the whole outfit looks very different from the combination with the floaty linen blouse.
Note the little pink theme I have going on here with glasses, vest, bag and sandals all being pink!
