My Newest Swiss Designer Silk Couture & Jewellery Discovery

Hi Everyone,

Pictured above you see Vanessa Martinelli, one of the most inspiring young designers I know. We met a couple of months ago in Lugano as I was staying at the Villa Principe Leopoldo in Lugano (full story here).

I instantly fell in love with Vanessa’s Caramella collection. Some of which she is wearing in the picture above. At the time she was presenting the collection to a few guests. Since then I have gotten to know Vanessa a little better. Her story becomes even more inspiring once you find out more. Keep on reading for the full story.

In addition I am super proud to be including Vanessa Martinelli Jewellery as one of the FunkyForty Favourite Shops – see here.

A brief 5 question interview to tell you more…

Question 1: How did you start your brand?

After working as designer for renowned high jewellery brands worldwide (Hong Kong, London …), I felt the need to create something truly unique to my voice. Therefore I relocated back to Switzerland and launched my own brand. My 10 years abroad experience gave me so much knowledge, insights and inspiration to go for the next step. I never regretted this.

Question 2: Where do you find your inspiration?

Nature mostly, so definitely my upbringing in Switzerland left a strong mark, my travels, especially to Asia, and childhood memories and a sense of nostalgia (candy collection and a wonderland world). Also the women I design for and encounter.

Question 3: What is your biggest dream for your brand?

To be able to touch as many hearts/emotions as possible through my work. I would love for my brand to extend internationally as my mind has always been fascinated with different cultures and countries. I love the idea of my jewels and fashion to be worn and collected by women all around the world. A way to create a connection  through my creations. I am happy that is slowly  already happening!

Question 4: Who is your jewellery and clothing designed for?

My jewellery is made for a woman who appreciates quality and seeks designs that are unique and different. She chooses something because it speaks to her heart, not because it is a trend. My precious jewels are mostly one of a kind and therefore extra special. The silk line capsule collection is designed to complete my creative world and vision, it’s designed for a woman by a woman, thinking of her feminine and strong side.

Question 5: Where do you see the future of your industry going?

The world is so big yet so small today. We can travel and move so easily (ok not now because of Covid but I hope soon again) and everything is moving towards the web and technology. I have my own ESHOP where people can buy my products directly from anywhere in the world, as well as my socials. What I am really excited for is the upcoming interactive videos.
