Munich’s Hottest Boutique Hotel & Local Shopping Tips

Hi Everyone,

When it comes to discovering hotels it’s sometimes nice to look for something a little beyond the usual. Not just classic contemporary luxury. An experience to remember. A touch of magic maybe.

If you’ve read my previous post you’ll know I was in Munich for an Influencer meet up (link to post here). Todays post is about where I stayed. Discovering what I felt to be a little piece of magic right in the middle of Munich.

Keep reading to find out more about Munich’s hottest boutique hotel (Hotel Opéra) & local shopping tips.

Munich’s Hottest Boutique Hotel & Local Shopping Tips

Hotel Opéra in Munich really is one of those places you need to visit to appreciate the true atmospheric beauty of it all!

The hotel itself  dates back to 1968 when Ernestine Lutz bought the then ordinary apartment building. Bit by bit, together with her son Rudolf Berger,  she turned it into the charming boutique hotel it is today.

Above is just a little example of some of the communal ground floor areas. So many nooks and crannies where you can sit and relax without anyone knowing you are there – unless you want them to of course!

In its beautiful Renaissance courtyard, one can hear the soft rustling of the Eisbach river. I love the fact that like Venice,it is actually built on water.

The rooms

Each and every room is totally unique and has that special home away from home feeling to it. You can see a small picture of each room on the Hotel Opéra website and book a specific room based on this.

The one I stayed in (deluxe room #47) even had the cutest little winter garden/ glasshouse attached. It was where I met Uli and Sabine from the blog “Fuck the Falten” for the first time and we spent 1.5 hours chatting and getting to know each other before venturing out.

We felt so comfortable in the room time just flew by! I loved the fresh flowers and fruits dotted around the room – making me feel right at home!

A few more I had a look at:

Room #46

Each and every room full of special details.

Superior Room #45

…this was the type of room my daughter would love as she was smaller – smile!

Deluxe Room #44

With such an elegant fireplace, perfect for winter afternoons.

Breakfast

Unlike most restaurants with their breakfast buffets, at Hotel Opéra the breakfast is brought to your table. You can just sit there and enjoy…

Note the beautiful china…

Dinner

Two restaurants belong to Hotel Opera:

Gandl is located on St. Anna Platz, one of Munich’s coolest and prettiest squares. this used to be a grocery store before being converted into the cute cosy restaurant of today.   Along the idea of a colonial grocery store, you will find exquisite and fine products from different countries. They also offer a catering and party services.

Weekend breakfast buffet available at EUR 15 pp.

We enjoyed a pre-dinner Bellini outside…

LEHEL Bar

The LEHEL is referred to as the chameleon of the Munich bar scene. Located along the Old Town walls- just 100 meters from Hotel Opéra – it transforms daily from an uncomplicated place to have lunch with an Open Kitchen, into a stylish café. Then later into a trendy bar with a club feeling – with huge screens just perfect for watching the WM!!!.

We enjoyed a fab dinner outside!

A little of that club atmosphere…

Local Shopping Tips:

When visiting a new city it’s always nice to know where the locals shop. Here are 3 interesting shops we visited whilst on our Influencer meet-up…

Mohrmann basics

Filled with lots of colourful fun clothes,  shoes and jewellery…I couldn’t resist a little pair of slip-ons here… (also online store)

Justine Nessi

Born in France, Justine Nessi studied design and interior architecture at the Camondo School in Paris. Now a total change in career with her beautiful hand made bags. Visit the store and select your own material and bag style!

LAKOULA Limited Collection

Owned by designer and text writer Martina Koula with the mission to make fashion for the coolest women in the world. Dresses and skirts in which you can turn around.

The front and back look identical! Sewn by selected local Munich seamstresses!
