Mode Suisse & Friends 2026 – Creativity Ruled the Runway

Mode Suisse is the one event each year that brings the whole Swiss fashion scene together – designers, students, industry insiders, and of course Zurich’s fashion lovers. It’s also an important platform for local talent to be seen.

This year’s edition felt incredibly well curated. Yannick Aellen made the very best of the space and while the venue wasn’t as dramatic as the Zurich Kunsthaus, he turned it into something warm (literally as we melted through the night – smile) cosy, and wonderfully personal. Exactly the right atmosphere for the one night a year when Zurich’s fashionistas gather under one roof.

It was also great to see strong sustainable voices represented — brands like Rework continue to prove that Swiss creativity and conscious fashion can go hand in hand.

Do Swiss designers set global trends? Probably not. But when it comes to creativity, they absolutely hold their own — even compared to Milan or Paris. The question of whether pure creativity is sustainable remains open, but honestly… where would fashion be without it?

For me, Mode Suisse 2026 was all about that spark. Creativity ruled the runway.

And with that in mind, I’ve selected my seven favourite designers from the night — collections that stood out not only for their originality but also for their fun, wearable appeal.

A fun fact I learned afterwards: in Zurich, fashion bachelor degree is judged mainly on creativity, while the master focuses on technical skill. Coming from a finance background, this made me smile — imagine if business degrees worked the same way. The world might look very different.
