The Swiss are known for their efficiency. So it comes at no surprise that they should be the first to introduce the concept of “A Fashion Week In A Day”. Smile!
In my 10 years of FunkyForty GmbH I have literally watched the Swiss fashion designer market grow from strength to strength.
Fun story: The first time I went to MILAN FASHION WEEK (February 2015), I was asked where I came from. When I said Switzerland the person replied “shhh don’t tell anyone, it will ruin your reputation”. Attending last nights Mode Suisse shows however, I felt proud to be Swiss!
Truly beautiful collections unfolded down the Mode Suisse runway in Zurich’s “Kunsthaus”. It would no longer be correct to diminish Swiss fashion. We have some brilliant designers – see highlights from the first two shows last night further down.
A huge congratulation to Yannick Allen (Founder/Director of Mode Suisse) and his team for a truly impressive show last night.
Loved the added feature of live music for each show. With English singer/songwriter Patrick Wolf accompanied the first show.
Followed by YES IT’s ANANIAS – Live Psychoautomatic solo piano @nstreichenberg for show two. Both performances being spectacular.

- Swiss/Korean brand NINA YUUN (Burgdorf, juried label) teamed with MDK (friend) to show its well loved nubs pieces accessorised by Zurich based designer Miranda Kaloudis.

6. DOING FASHION – Basel,ICDP, HGK, FHNW (friend) highlighting the collections of Master and Bachelor students.

Celebrating it’s 130th birthday this year!
2. Anastasia Bull (Basel, juried label)
4. ADAPT by SPF x Visual (Archives) Society featuring clothing designed for wheelchair users.
6. MOURJJAN (Zurich, Beirut, juried label)
7. Interlude: BERNINA, Zurich Friend, presenting a special DIY bag in seven colours.
