Hi Everyone,

The secret is out – I love to drive! So what nicer invitation to get than to visit St. Moritz for the Snow Polo World Cup 2020 along with 3 hours solely devoted to test driving the Maserati range…

This year was the 36th Snow Polo World Cup in St. Moritz and Maserati is one of the four main sponsors with it’s own team playing in the World Cup. In fact Maserati is the only Polo Team playing that has a Swiss player – Fabio Meier.

Maserati used the Snow Polo World Cup 2020 event to present their new limited edition Royale Special Series. The new Royale special series, as available only on the Quattroporte, Levante and Ghibli models powered by V6 engines and only 100 will be produced.

Keep reading to find out more about “Maserati Royale Special Series Steals the Show at the Snow Polo World Cup 2020 St. Moritz”. A recap of the event and my personal Maserati driving experience.

The 3 hour plus train ride to St. Moritz from Zurich is very scenic. Upon arrival we were chauffeured to our hotel – the beautiful Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski.

I promised myself that next time I visit I’m going to give myself some real time to enjoy the pretty and expansive spa area.

Dinner was in a lovely hotel a little outside St. Moritz itself – Hotel Bellavista. Here a little glimpse of what we ate:

The next morning the Maserati test driving began…

5 Fabulous cars from the Maserati range were waiting for us:

– Levante 350 PS

– Levante SQ4 Zegna

– Levante Trofeo with 580 HP

– Ghibli SQ4

– Quattroporte SQ4 Zegna

Both the Levante SQ4 Zegna and Quattroporte SQ4 Zegna have a wonderful Zegna PELLETESSUTA interior. Zegna PELLETESSUTA is a leather woven textile made exclusively for Maserati in collaboration with Ermenegildo Zegna.

All the test cars had a Bowers & Wilkins Sound System, electric sunroof and privacy glass, as well as a Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit and an 8.4-inch touchscreen interface.

The first car I drove was the Maserati Levante SQ4 Zegna with PELLETESSUTA. We quickly became friends. I was also warm as toast in seconds as the seat heating automatically switches on when it’s below a certain temperature outside. Thanks to my dear passenger and a very user friendly dashboard we managed to switch this off easily.

As it was an SUV we had that wonderful “King of the road” feeling whilst sitting inside. My passengers decided it felt like cruising along in a luxury plane.

The second car I drove was the Maserati Ghibli SQ4. Being the lighter car it was easy to get this into sport mode. Corner handling super smooth yet keeping that sporty edge to it. I wouldn’t mind giving this one a try somewhere where there aren’t speed limits, (i.e. race track).

Loved the sound of motor once set to sport mode.

My personal opinion is that the price/performance of this car is brilliant.

The 36th edition of the Snow Polo World Cup St Moritz was opened with 2 of the Maserati Levante Royale cars leading the teams onto the field.

Each year teams from all over the globe compete in the high-goal tournament on the frozen lake of St. Moritz. Sports celebrities were present this year, including slalom world champion Giorgio Rocca and British polo star Malcolm Borwick.

So interesting was to find out that the polo teams never play together before the actual game. I wouldn’t know of any other sports team that could work like this!

The polo village around the field was like a humming beehive with wonderful Perrier-Jouet champagne flowing freely.

The reminded me of my hubby’s parents who also used to serve this champagne to us in exactly the same glasses…

The Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz is free for all visitors. It certainly is a spectacular event and if you weren’t there this year you might like to reserve the date for next year.
