How to look stylish in shorts at any age!

Hi Everyone,

Summer is here and I’ll be dammed if I don’t wear shorts no matter how old I am! Don’t you feel the same?

How many times have you read that after 40 you should wear longer length shorts? Just throw away that piece of advice right now! If you’ve still got great legs after 40, longer shorts could potentially make your whole outfit look older.  If you don’t have great legs then longer shorts are still not necessarily going to make things any better! Plus that wrinkled knee scenario that basically hits us all – great legs or not – doesn’t get any better with longer shorts!

The good news however is that there is a solution to all of this! A very hot trend solution especially created so we can wear our shorts and look ever so stylish no matter our age! Well at least I’ve decided this must be the reason for the long shirt trend – haha!

Keep reading to find out more about how to look stylish in shorts at any age.

How to look stylish in shorts at any age!

The trick to looking stylish in shorts is to take the emphasis away from the shorts. Like with this long shirt above. The focus is on the shirt however by leaving the buttons open at the front and having slits along the sides everyone can see you are actually wearing shorts.

The shirt in this photo is from a new Australian designer I discovered during Sydney Fashion Week. Check out Leah Williams online store for her fabulous fairly priced designs.

This look can be dressed up with heels like above but trainers work just as well – my preferred option during the day as I am always running around from one place to the next!

Plus of course sneakers make for a much softer landing when jumping:

Why not try this look out yourself. It works equally as well in boho style with a long boho shirt and casual shorts.

The bag is from lnelondon.com and can be styled in so many different ways! Day to Night, Airplane to cocktail party!  The Multifunction ZuriBag can convert from shoulder to
backpack to cross body… see here.

  1. You can wear shorts without that beautiful long shirt Yvonne. Your legs look fantastic. You have provided some inspiration what to do with my recently bought long shirt by the way! Thanks. Love, Lieske

  2. Love love love shorts – we need to go shopping so you can help me style them to make them acceptable

  3. Love how you styled your shorts 💕💕💕 I’m not a shirt girl , but just might try this one 👌

  4. This such a creative idea and shorts are one of those pieces of clothing item that are a hit or a miss! Love pairing shorts with longer hem shirts because I do bend down a lot to pick up my son off the ground and since my style is pretty casual, I love to wear sneakers!

  5. Yvonne, this is such a fabulous outfit! My go-to summer outfit this year is short shorts with a long kimono! I love the look of a longer shirt over very short shorts. It’s sassy, sexy, and stylish! This post will be featured tomorrow on my #SpreadTheKindness Link Up! Thanks so much for joining the party every week.
