Like a Princess in the Ultima Gstaad

Imagine having a moment in your life where you quite simply feel like a Princess. This is how I felt during my stay at the Ultima Gstaad.

The Ultima Gstaad belongs to the Ultima Collection – a collection of luxury properties with an amazing story. It all began when 2 young men in their twenties got together and decided to create something extremely special that would cater for every customers needs. Realising Switzerland has many luxurious properties they wanted to create something that would stand out from the rest. Only just over 3 years later the number of properties in the collection has risen to 6, and there are more to come from what I’ve heard.

I had heard the story already at the ILTM in Cannes and was curious to find out what really made these properties so special. After just one night at the Ultima Gstaad it all became crystal clear.

Like a Princess in the Ultima Gstaad

Upon arrival, with the exception of the giant bear on the side, one would think this is simply another beautiful Swiss mountain chalet. However as soon as you walk through the front door it becomes clear that this is something very special.

The chandelier is an original from Baccarat. To the left you see the lobby lounge and bar. There is also a special Shisha Bar at the back that takes you back to the Middle East and a Detox Bar – the perfect match after a workout or relaxing spa treatment.

Note the magic glass piano that can play by itself..

Once checked in I parked in the garage and discovered I had my very own secret lift which would take me directly to my Presidential suite.

My room tour:

The Ultima Gstaad has 11 suites (6 categories) ranging in size from 50 – 240 square meters. Each of them have their own terrace or balcony, bronze fireplaces and walk in wardrobes. Not to forget the iPads controlling music and lights.

There is a second chalet, the Ultima Residence, with 6 apartments ranging in size from 160 to 250 square meters. In addition to the facilities of the suites these also have their own fully equipped kitchens and authentic jewel boxes coated with Hermes leather. The ground floor residences each have a private jacuzzi.

I seriously enjoyed all of the special edition books left lying around. Each book can also be purchased if desired. Loved that there were a couple of cosy corners to sit and relax in my suite…

There was a beautiful kitchen area with super sophisticated built-in Nespresso coffee machine. You can even book a chef to come and cook for you if you wish. I really felt like having a dinner party…maybe one day I will come back and do just that – smile!

The Presidential suite has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and three toilets…

Having a bit of breakfast in bed fun here…

Fantastic oversized beds with ever so comfy mattresses.

All bathrooms made out of exquisite Italian marble. Once you have made a booking at an Ultima resort you get a menu sent home where you can choose the flavour and special bathroom amenities you would like as well as the type of pillows you would like on your bed. Every special wish is catered for.

My suite also had a huge balcony on two sides, each with a super pretty view of local chalets and mountains in the distance. Another perfect place for breakfast – smile!

The Restaurant

Truly romantic vibes at the lovely hotel restaurant the Duchessa. Mediterranean cuisine that will simply make your mouth water. There are options of sitting close to the fireplace or out on the terrace during warmer months of the year.

Ultima Spa

The exquisite spa area is over 800 square meters. A huge selection of beauty and medial treatments are available and you can even choose to have your own doctor come for treatments.

The spa contains:

• a hammam
• sauna
• indoor pool
• outdoor giant jacuzzi
• 6 treatment and massage rooms, 1 double cabin
• healthy bar
• gym

Gstaad and the surroundings

Outside the hotel Gstaad also has a lot to offer. The town centre is super cute with a few fabulous concept stores and restaurants to try.

In Winter months of course the skiing is not to be missed.

Spring/Summer is perfect for hiking or biking or even doing little road trips along the remote mountain roads. There is a special “Five finger route” that was recommended to me – I tried out some of it and was blown away by the beautiful countryside.
