ISSEY MIYAKE SPRING 2023 a Tribute to it’s Late Founder & the Secret that Remains!

Hi Everyone,

With Spring just around the corner, what better time to publish highlights from one of the best shows in Paris during the Spring/Summer 2023 Fashion Week. The Issey Miyake Spring 2023 show was a tribute to it’s late founder. Also the first Issey Miyake show since his passing.

With a pretty array of wavy pleated fabrics, the true Issey Miyake  spirit was maintained including live piano music throughout and a fabulous dance show at the end. Miyake himself was renowned for using dancers to model his pleated clothing.

The secret that remains:

Doing a little research before writing this post I was astounded to learn that Issey Miyake was apparently a married man but he had kept his personal life very secretive till his death. In fact we still do not know anything about his wife or children but it is said his family was living a happy life before his passing. (according to gossipgist.com)

Whilst showbizcorner.com write:

“There is no information about the married life of Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake. As a result, the identity of his wife remains a mystery. There is no mention of the wife of the recently deceased fashion designer from Hiroshima. It is also unclear whether he was married or not in the first place. ”

 

Fun Fact:

Steve Jobs’ signature black mock neck is a Miyake creation. In his biography, Jobs writes that he asked Miyake to make him some of the mock necks, “and he made me like a hundred of them.”

A few highlights from the Spring 2023 show in Paris.

Note the pastel colours – a theme that was consistent across many of the shows this season. As was the feature of black, white and creams.
