Hi Everyone,
This week as I visited the Livingdreams showroom in Meilen, Zurich, it wasn’t just the cosy gas fires that were burning. Discussions were also ripe about what the hot interior design trends really are for Autumn/Winter 2024. The discussions were between Nicole Hoch (owner of Livingdreams) and her team, some of which are currently at design school.
Then came the magic word which everyone agreed on…
The number one interior design trend for Autumn/Winter 2024 is “Nature”. It is all about bringing nature into your home for the cooler months of the year. This made perfect sense to me. Did you know that bringing nature into your home can have a significant positive impact on your well-being. This concept, known as biophilic design, involves incorporating natural elements into interior spaces to create a more harmonious and health-promoting environment.

Wood
One way of bringing nature into the home is through wooden furniture. The chair above really captured my eye as I visited the Livingdreams showroom in Meilen, Zurich, this week. It was super comfy to sit in – to be honest I felt like staying there and reading a book but had to get up promptly to look around at other pieces.
Viennese weaving is another wooden trend item. It reminds me of my fist own home back in the ’80s, a real classic piece for your home.
This statement wooden table is another real eye catcher. Perfect for anyone who does a lot of entertaining at home. Alternatively also great for those who use part of their table as their office…
Glass:
Aren’t these glass tables nice. I’ve never seen glass tables before but they certainly add something to any room as well as being very useful. They also come in orange.
Place them next to your favourite chair…
Stone/ Ceramics:
Another way of bring nature into your home is by adding a lovely statement piece of ceramic such as the vases above. Here it is important to choose them as large as possible for your space as small ceramics dotted around can have the adverse effect of looking like clutter.
This fossilised wooden coffee table is also an interesting piece to place in your home. Especially when accessorised with similar tones – such as the black vases placed on top.
Note how in the Livingdreams showroom the table has specifically been placed around a natural coloured sofa with black and cream pillows. Sticking to a limited colour palette adds harmony to any room.
Nature based light features:
These lampshades in the shape similar to Japanese blossoms are a lovely way to add a touch of nature to your home.
Soft furnishings in natural tones:
Focusing on natural tones for your soft furnishings is one of the easiest ways of bringing a touch of nature into your home.
Black, grey and white are easy to integrate successfully into most environments. Hues of blue and gold can give a feeling of water and calmness to your home.
Most important:
Remember, no matter what the current trends are, when choosing furniture and accessories for your home they should be pieces YOU fall in love with. Do choose quality above the cheaper version as these will stand the test of time.
