Hi Everyone,
If there’s one thing for sure it’s that sheer fabrics are one of the hottest trends for 2025. We see them at each fashion week and so far it really has been the street style fashionistas in Milan and Paris that know how to wear sheer fabrics best.
Today I’m highlighting 10 ways to style sheer fabrics. Examples are based on my street style photo archive from the Milan and Paris Fall 2025 Fashion Weeks. There’s some great inspiration which You too can easily integrate into your own outfits this coming Fall. Although you might want to start the odd sheer outfit replication already during Summer – smile!
Do note that this wonderful sheer fabric trend can be worn at any age. Gone are the days when we do everything to cover up underwear – sometimes this is truly meant to be shown. It’s all about getting the styling right and the tips that follow will certainly put you on the right path!
I’m totally curious to find out which styling is your favourite so do let me know by leaving a comment at the end of this post.

How to Style Sheer Fabrics – The Trend Fashion People are Obsessed with!
1. Full volume dress with many sheer layers
The easiest way to style sheer fabric as there is so much volume that the overall outfit is not really transparent at all. Be sure to give the outfit a bit of an edge with the footwear you choose – over the knee boots are of course perfect!
2. When the top is totally sheer and bottom lined.
Don’t knock it – there’s something about dresses with sheer sleeves. This baby doll dress is perfect for any time of day. Worn with clogs here for that daytime vibe but try strappy heeled sandals for a plush date night vibe.
3. The white sheer blouse
Believe me, your underwear is meant to be seen under this top so don’t hide it. The Italians will disagree but I say it’s even ok to go for a pretty black bra under this blouse.
4. The tight sheer top
Here too the bra is meant to be seen so do chill. However stick to more tone in tone underwear. Especially as the whole outfit is monochrome and it’s nice to keep that theme going throughout.
5. The sheer skirt
Try teaming these up with your longer blazers. The blazer only needs to cover your bottom and then you’re good to go.
Alternatively you can try for one of those skirts with a very skimpy thick cotton fabric covering your bottom at the top but leaving the rest of the skirt see-through.
6. When the top and skirt are totally see-through
Here it’s best to stick to yoga like under garments. No Lacey or see-through underwear in this case. You might even have a good bikini at home that will do the trick!
7. Extremely sheer top
Looks great with a contrasting jacket on top such as the leather one shown here. Once again stay away from lace underwear – a simple bandeau will also do the trick instead of a regular bra!
8. The sort of see-through dress but not really
This is where it is good to stick to natural. toned underwear which doesn’t show through too much.
9. The white sheer dress
Stick to a fabric that has a bit of depth to it and is not too see-through when replicating this look. Wear non-see-through underwear and you’ll be fine. It is ok if people see that you’re wearing underwear but try to stick to either white or skin tones.
10. When the sheer top is almost like a cape
This looks great with a lace body underneath. Here styled with all black but this could also be worn together with all white for the warmer months.
Which of the outfits above is your favourite? Do you already wear sheer fabrics? I would love to read your comments.

Hi dear Yvonne thank you very much for your Blog I love your fashion and designs in the sheer Fabics I also could life in it especially in full flowing dresses thank you very much
None of those outfits shown appeal to me, but I do like a loose-ish sheer jacket over a sleeveless top or dress to distract from less-than-perfect arms while staying cool in summer.
I used to be a sheer person when I was in my twenties and thirties. Not anymore and probably right so, haha.
