How to make the most of your gingham

Hi Everyone,

Gingham is one of those patterns that never really dates. However this Spring/Summer sees it as a must have in everyone’s wardrobe. It really is the HOT pattern of the season!

There are a few simple tricks to making the most of the gingham you have. Let’s start with colour. Whilst it’s easy to go for a blue or red gingham this year it’s about being more adventurous and trying out a colour you normally wouldn’t. These mustard pants (available at Golden Carrot) have become a real favourite of mine.

Keep reading for a few more easy tricks of how to make the most of your gingham this Summer.

Teaming with white

Teaming your gingham with white brings out the most of the pretty pattern. A lovely clean feature for the warmer seasons.

Keep accessories neutral

Note how the belt and bag are both colour combined and neutral. Giving the outfit a polished look to it without detracting from the beautiful gingham.

Staying with neutrals is also a good idea for any additional layers such as this spring coat.

Having said that a wonderful funky long mustard cardigan would also look fabulous with this outfit.

Go for a larger gingham

Gingham comes in many sizes – this season allow your gingham to make a real statement by choosing a piece with a larger gingham pattern than usual.

Have fun with it

Gingham is such a sweet cheerful pattern, let it reflect upon your mood. A little smile will make any outfit look even better.

My Hubby always laughs at me when I wear gingham – telling me I am wearing a tablecloth – haha! For me however, gingham brings back super cute memories of the red and pink gingham dresses my Mum sewed for me one year. My bestie liked them so much that my Mum ended up sewing her one too.

In any case Hubby is out of luck this season as gingham is going to feature big in my wardrobe – promise!
