FunkyForty Confesses in Gala Magazine

Hi Everyone!

Today I am sitting on my chair literally bouncing around as I’m so excited to being featured in todays edition of the Gala magazine. A lovely glossy people publication which comes out bi-weekly.

During an interview with Gala magazine last month I joked about wanting to become the “Iris Apfel” of the future and this is what happened…

For those of you who don’t speak german I have written a little translation of the interview/article…

FunkyForty confesses in Gala Magazine!

Q1. What is your ultimate styling tip?

A1. Keep your wardrobe moving and be open to new styles, trends even when repeats from years ago.

Q2. Do you have a favourite designer?

A2. There are so many fabulous designers – I have a passion for discovering new ones.  I currently really like Dutch designer Dorhout Mees and Italian designer Cristiano Burani.

Of course coming from NZ I have a soft spot for NZ designers – Trelise Cooper remains one of my favourites throughout the years. Her newer store “The CO-OP” is so much fun!

Q3. Do you have a fashion role model or inspiration?

A3.  Iris Apfel, Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. All three are brilliant intellectual personalities. Coco and Karl have made such a huge impact in the fashion world. Iris is an inspiration with her individuality and the way she remains such a fashion icon regardless of age. I always joke that it’s my dream to be the Iris Apfel of the future.

Q4. Which are the news trends for SS 2017?

A4. Pastels dominate the new colour palette. Sheer fabrics feature for daytime as well as evening wear. The white sneaker is here to stay but new is the added detail such as pink ribbon replacing boring white laces. Combining a long totally sheer skirt over leggings with white sneakers is one of next Summer’s hottest new looks. Sporty Chic features large next Spring with hooded sweatshirts being a must have in every wardrobe! Pretty loafers and hand bags that tell a story all of their own are the perfect option for those of you who like a slightly elegant touch. Stripes and off the shoulder looks are here to stay as is Boho – only Boho is becoming more feminine in 2017. The Asian influence will be larger than before this coming Spring with pretty silk fabrics  and Kimonos.
