European Design Discovery Down Under!

Touring round the North Island of New Zealand straight after fashion weeks in Europe is certainly quite different from Paris or Milan – but how surprised I was to discover that certain European “copy” in the cute coastal town – “Napier“.

Dress in Technical Knit by Maje.

Dress by Dotti. The only difference in the dress is the colour. The fabric felt exactly the same. – I know this as have been into Maje stores in Europe.

This is just a small sample of the copies found!

Dotti was launched in Sydney by Linda Bowen in 1981. Stores are now located right throughout both Australia and New Zealand, clothing available online as well.

Taken directly from their site: “We regularly scour the high street and the globe to provide you with fresh outfit inspiration to make sure you feel as if the world is your own personal catwalk.” –  I guess Dotti is certainly doing what they aim to by bringing European Design to the South Pacific!

Maje is a French brand – founded by  Judith Milgrom in 1998 with her first store opening in Paris. Within 8 years the company grew to 150 stores in both France and abroad.

Self-Portrait is a relatively new London contemporary label – founded in 2013 by Malaysian born Han Chong who was formerly the creative director of the brand Three Floor.

Wishing you all a fab rest of weekend!
