At the age of 32, Selma Boulcina, has certainly excelled in the world of fashion. As the distinguished artistic director of the esteemed Algerian haute couture house “Houita”.
The roots of her creative genius come from her mother, Houita Hamerelaine, an artisan of Algerian traditional attire since the 1960s. Inheritor of an ancestral knowledge passed down from her father and the extensive Fergani family of artisans in Constantine.
Growing up in the precious maternal workshop, where sumptuous fabrics, golden threads, and the intoxicating scent of leather intertwine, it was almost natural that Selma too would move in the same direction. However her academic journey, started with in-depth studies in pharmaceutical chemistry, then taking an unexpected turn… back to the world of fashion.
