East meets West with Shiatzy Chen – Paris Fashion Week SS 2018

East meets West with Shiatzy Chen - Paris Fashion Week SS 2018

Hi Everyone,

Originating in Taiwan in 1978, Shiatzy Chen now has the reputation of being the Chanel of Taiwan.

This is my 6th season of visiting their shows. Paris Fashion Week always strikes as having a huge Eastern influence. Very noticeable however is how Shiatzy Chen have gradually adapted their collections giving them a more Western feel.

The SS 2018 collection is officially called “Linkage”. Depicting the image of those that walked the Silk Road, creating opportunities for dialogue between Eastern and Western culture and art. Followed by a love of the 1930’s style.

Keep reading for a preview of show highlights. Remember that this seasons shows become next seasons Street Style!

Puff-sleeved design dominated many shows this season.

Lace details not to be underestimated. Keep any pretty lace pieces you currently own.

If in doubt wear black. Note the puffed sleeves coupled with lace detail.

There is something “Chanel-like” about this suit no matter which way you look!

Fucsia pink already popped up in street style and here it is again. A sure sign this colour is here to stay!

Pink and red. The former forbidden combination is now as accepted as black and white.

For those pastel tone lovers.

I never thought I would see denim in a Shiatzy Chen collection and yet here it is. A real sign of East meeting West if ever there was one!

Note the varying jacket lengths, cropped or long. Which is your favourite?

This is a perfect example of teaming Eastern details with the Western cut of the blazer.

Almost every show this season had a touch of yellow. The cold shoulder theme replaced with the insertion of sheer fabric – I love this!

The dressed up jumpsuit.  This piece is becoming as staple as the little black dress!

  2. Hi Yvonne! October is fashion week the world over it seems! Even in Athens we have our own (not yet so big) fashion week. This year guest of honour was Anna Molinari by Blumarine and I’m so happy I was able to attend the show and see the famous designer up close. Fashion weeks are so much fun, aren’t they?

All the Shiatzy Chen outfits are amazing. Love the pop colours! Thank you for sharing these great pics 🙂

P.S. Sorry about the lost comment you wrote on my blog, but unfortunately I was changing hosts at the time and that particular day the change of servers took place, so all comments from that day are gone :'(
