Hi Everyone,
Today I may well have the best news ever for all you coffee lovers out there.
As you know I have recently spent two weeks at Milan and Paris Fashion weeks. Here not only the topic of fashion was very popular but also that of longevity and healthy living. A little part of me felt as though I was defending my lifestyle and eating habits a lot of the time. Largely due to the fact that I will eat meat, love chocolate and refuse to wake up without my morning dose of caffeine.
So I got back to Zurich and started researching about coffee. Discovering that many studies have proven coffee may not only add years to your life but also life to your years. Time to dress up and celebrate with my newly discovered, fair-trade and now favourite coffee – La Semeuse.
Keep on reading to find out more about “Do Coffee Drinkers Live Longer?” Including 6 reasons why coffee is good for you and the reason I love La Semeuse coffee.
You might also like to join in on the competition to win a trip for two to the heart of the coffee plantations in Brazil. OMG I am so hoping to win that one myself – smile!
Do Coffee Drinkers Live Longer?
6 reasons why coffee is good for you
- Coffee can make the brain work better.
Studies have examined the effects of caffeine on the brain, demonstrating that caffeine can temporarily improve mood, reaction time, memory, vigilance and general brain function.
2. Coffee can help you burn fat and improve your exercise performance.
Caffeine has a stimulant effect on the central nervous system, both raising metabolism and increasing the oxidation of fatty acids.
3. Coffee may substantially lower your risk of type 2 diabetics.
Caffeine helps your body process sugar better.
4. Coffee may lower your risk of getting Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons
Not only can coffee make you smarter in the short term, but it may also protect your brain in old age.
5. Coffee can protect your liver.
Research shows that coffee drinkers are more likely to have liver enzyme levels within a healthy range than people who don’t drink coffee.
6. Coffee is a great source of antioxidants.
When hot water runs through coffee grounds while brewing, the natural chemical compounds in the beans mix with the water and become part of the drink.
Many of these compounds are antioxidants that protect against oxidative stress in your body caused by damaging free radicals.
Oxidation is believed to be one of the mechanisms behind aging and common, serious conditions like cancer and heart disease.
Note: The above points were for drinking black coffee without sugar.
The reason I love La Semeuse coffee
Taste – La Semeuse coffee, simply has a special dignified taste to it with low acidity and bitterness. I am told this is because the plantations are located 1’000 metres above sea level.
The coffee is fair-trade certified and all capsules are made from 80% recycled aluminium.
Finally I love that the capsules fit my coffee machine perfectly.
