Today’s story is about a meeting I had last week with Marina Anouilh (pictured above) at her shop in Gstaad. The meeting that made me decide she really is the Diane Von Fürstenberg of Switzerland.

Actually the whole story goes back 2 years ago when I stayed in Gstaad for the weekend with my hubby. We went for a long run finishing off at the shopping mile of Gstaad. There was something which drew me into Marina’s store even though we were seriously not dressed for shopping.

Dragging hubby inside we entered what seemed like a totally new world filled with beautiful pieces that had meaningful stories behind them.

Then last week Marina contacted me and the story goes on from there.

Why Diane Von Fürstenberg?

The answer is simple – it’s because Marina’s aura is exactly what one would imagine of Diane Von Fürstenberg. Marina has Greek origins and a background in interior design, with a special affection for beautiful craftsmanship, pretty colours and subtle hand-made details.

She created her own clothing label consisting of timeless pieces that she dreamt of having but could not find exactly as she wanted in the shops. Focusing on “meaningful” clothing, timeless essentials women wear for years. Her designs have simple and elegant cuts that suit most body shapes – particularly her white shirts.

Moving from interior design into fashion wasn’t easy. She had to try over and over again to get things right with many ups and downs along the way. Looking back over the past 2 years she is now super happy to see friends and clients enjoying her designs. Thankful for having trusted in herself to keep going. (This has to be a true lesson for all of us entrepreneurs following our dreams – smile.)

 

Hence Marina is what I consider to be  the Diane Von Fürstenberg of Switzerland.

My absolute favourite in her collection is the Marina dress which comes in a number of different colours and fabrics depending on the season. It never dates and fits women of almost any size and shape.

Situated in the heart of Gstaad’s central shopping street. Marina Anouilh is a concept store with a certain magic to it. Created by Marina Anouilh herself, every corner tells a new story. You walk in, see something you like, discover the story and your heart melts.
