You all know my favourite quote “Chocolate will cure almost everything” but did you know it can also make you a millionaire?

Going along to yesterdays Lindt & Sprüngli AGM left me ready to invest in chocolate at the drop of a hat – if only the shares weren’t quite so high right now!!!

If you had invested the approximate price of one Lindt & Sprüngli share today (CHF 66’000) 23 years ago (which was when Ernst Tanner became CEO of Lindt & Sprüngli), that investment would now be worth:

CHF 1’452’000

 

What a tribute to the man who just recently stepped down from being CEO and is now Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. A Board which I am happy to tell you has 40% female membership! Can’t wait to see a women in their operative Management Board.

If you put all the Gold Lindt Chocolate bunnies that have been produced to date in a row you would have enough to go 2.5 times around the world.

 

8’000 Easter surprises

This Easter 8’000 gold chocolate bunnies were given away to children in hospital and hospital staff. In Basel the children were even given their chocolate personally by Swiss tennis champion Roger Federer. See video here

 

14’660 KG Chocolate walking through Zurich

2’932 shareholders attended the Lindt & Sprüngli AGM. Each person attending received a 5 kg box of chocolate. A  wonderful 14’660 kg chocolate walking through the streets of Zurich!

 

2016 in Summary:

Despite a tough year in 2016 with high Cocoa prices and political uncertainty:

•  6.8% growth
• 10.2% increase in net profit
• 10% increase in dividend!
