Wow, 2 weeks into my blog and have already been invited to my first event – fabulous!
Being a charity event I had no idea what I was to come against but it ended up being a most enjoyable evening where I met a group of truly inspirational people and somehow I have the feeling this was just the beginning of a whole new group of friends. The charity was for the Frauenhaus in Zurich which is truly a great cause – largely helping woman and children who are victims of abuse.
Let me share with you the people I met and a little about what they do. Firstly there was Katja Gyorgyevits – she is the owner of Beauty Complett which is where the event took place – thanks for the lovely hospitality Katja!
Here we have the gorgeous Asalea Santamaria, proudly showing off Helen D’arcy’s awesome cashmere collection made out of Loro Piana Garne.
Now this is a real secret tip for anyone who has ever wished they could own one of those beautiful Loro Piana pieces but simply not afford the price tag. Helen has her own creation made out of the Loro Piana Garne – made to order and look at a small sample of the colours to choose from:
Mazal Jenal was also there with her wonderful collection of exotic jewellery collected from all sorts of famous designers. I have heard that a trip to Mazals’ shop near the Zurich Kunsthaus is a real experience…so guess where I’m heading next week 🙂
My friend Pukar Shrestha also surprised me by being there. I used to see him outside his shop when I was working around Enge – always such a friendly smile and nice hello as he showed off his beautiful collection of pashminas from Nepal.
What is truly inspiring is Pukars’ philosophy. Not only does he produce his pashminas under strict fair trade – he also donates part of the profits to SITU, an organisation which provides good quality early education for children growing up in extreme poverty. Fashion making a difference in the world – I like that!
A South African Artist; Margie Larmuth donated one of her pictures to the event and this was auctioned off for CHF 700 which also went to the Frauenhaus Zurich.
All in all a fab, successful evening I would say – well done to everyone who took part!
…of course I didn’t go away empty handed and just had to have this beautiful grey scarf, plus of course my daughter, Cassia also got a treat as she came with me which made the evening even more fun;-)
That’s it for today, thank you for reading my post. Have a great evening or day – depending on where you are and I look forward to speaking to you again soon!
